Last year I got a Trd off-road 2018 tacoma. I am now looking to buy new wheels and want to put 33" tires on it. Should I get a lift kit or should I get all new suspension and lift it that way?

What? You mean like a spacer lift or replacing the shocks and leaf packs?

I have a spacer lift, as it was inexpensive and got the look I was wanting.. that being said once these oem shocks need replacing I plan on upgrading to proper suspension lift. Just trying to figure out how to know when my oem stuff is shot.

it's such a gradual change as they wear out. And when you ask how many miles should they go you get people that say theirs wore out at 25k miles and some say mine is still great at 125k miles (which we all know it's probably shot well before that)

With 33’s you may have to cut plastic and metal to make them fit (stop rubbing). People have mounted 255/80-17’s with good success.

Generally spacers make the front shocks wear a bit faster but not dramatically. It really depends on your driving. If you're beating them to hell, then a lot less miles. But if you're really only on the street with little potholes. You'll be fine for a while (over 100k)

rule of thumb is between 50-70k miles, this is not a set number, depends on many factors, for the standard street driver that does not tow or off-road, you could see 100k or more on the OEM stuff. Check the units on a regular basis, rust and flaking paint, rust pitting on the piston stem, worn out/cracked bushings are all indications of replacement needed, oil leaks are a replace now indicator.

How do they ride on road, Ive read mixed reviews on the ome. And I’m assuming you are talking about the yellow not the bp-51?

Yes the ones with the nitro shocks. My setup is full ome and for me it's better then stock.
