So i just installed Bilstein 5100 front struts with Toytec Eibach Coils with the Bilstein's set at 2.5, or highest setting.. When I drove it the steering wheel shook really bad, and the whole truck also shakes and makes this weird kinda roar sound..I took it to get it aligned thinking that should fix it after talking to a few mechanics. After getting it back today the steering does not shake but the truck still makes the roar noise. and it makes it uncomfortable to drive. Has anyone experienced this issue or maybe have an idea of what it could be?

Sure you didn't also install the mad lion between coil and spring? Those tend to roar pretty bad they may also rip a hole on the sidewall of your tire

3" lift EIBACH coils w/ 5100's front, OME/ Dakar leaf springs w/ toytec adjustable shackles at 1.5" and 5125's out back. 33x10.5x15 KM2's Relentless DIY steel bumper.
your shocks need to be on the lowest setting with the eibach coils. Im not sure what the roaring sound is but the eibach coils give the full 3" of lift. Only adjust the setting on the 5100's when using stock coils

post a pic of your front suspension, especially your control arms. I bet the UCA is rubbing on the tire because the suspension is over-extended.

yeah i figured my struts probably needed to be at a lower setting.. if i move it to a lower setting will that affect the height of the front any? And my UCA is at a pretty steep angle down due to the longer struts... i didnt know if i could maybe find some spindles that were slightly longer?

MainMoe02 I see that you are running eibach's with Bilsteins.. How much lift do you have in the rear? and is the front beginning to lower a little since the coils are getting older? How much lift do you think I am going to lose when I adjust the Bilstein's lower? thank you.

Ok, you've already discovered your truck rides like shit because you didn't follow thru enough on info gathering before doing this, the only reason I'm posting is because 1 of the first things mentioned the world around is with any aftermarket lift coil (Eibach/Toytec or OME) fitted on the 5100's is to leave the spring perch on the lowest setting (stock) You don't preload them anymore than what it takes to get the stem thru the hole & get the center nut on. so the eibachs give 3" lift, let them do their job, if you are hell bent on getting over 3" you need to consider a body lift or simliar...

Yeah i just got my alignment done, but I am deffinitely going to adjust the Bilsteins to the stock height.. I dont know how I managed to miss that memo, but i guess that mistake is going to cost me. Hopefully once i get them adjusted back to normal it will ride fine, I hope, and i guess I'll be back at the alignment shop. Thanks guys!

I have about 3-3.25" lift on the rear. I have the DAKARS which provide 2.25" lift with Toytec adjustable lift shackles at the 1.5" setting. If the bed was empty then I'd probably be around 3.75" of rear lift But since I carry about 150lbs of weight it's brought back down to roughly 3".

The EIBACH coils are a strong coil. If you don't plan on adding any weight to the front (ie. steel bumper, skid plates, winch) then you should maintain a 3" lift for years. Th Eibachs gave me over 3" of lift at first and never settled too much in the 6 months before adding my plate bumper. After the bumper they dropped another .25" or so. After measuring in sitting at about 2.90" of lift after adding an 110# plate bumper to the front.

Right now your suspension is maxed out at about 4.5" lift. Once you set the clip on the Bilsteins back to the stock setting then you'll probably be at around 3.25" of lift.

Once its fixed, it will ride real nice.

I hope you dont have 4wd. If so, dont drive it and check you CV's to make sure you didnt blow a boot.

Want to keep this thread going - have related questions:
replacing my worn Bilstein 5100/5150's (front/rear) this week; just had the TotalChaos UCAS installed. Normally I have this set-up at 2.5" front/rear.

If I add the Toytet-Eibach front coil springs (understand leave shocks at lowest level in front) how does this affect the leveling of my truck? I have the added Toyota TSB AAL on the rear. It sounds like level front shocks at zero with the springs would give 3" up front. Great. But my question is what do I set the 5150's to in the rear?

The shocks in the rear are shocks and do not increase height.

The rear shocks are not adjustable, nor do they provide any type of lift. Rear lift is from the leaf springs and the shocks are there to help dampen the ride.

Thx everyone. The TSB AAL adds the lift. Currently everything is level at 2 1/2" with my setup. I wanted to ensure that I can stay level with the Toytec coils. This is the info I received from: Bilsteinlifts.com they recommend for roughly a 2 1/2" lift for my double taco, use the 2nd clip on the shocks with the toytec coils. If I had a reg cab that would make it a 3". Just FYI for anyone interested.
