There is a big stupid jeep in the middle of my man cave just in time for the weekend, dammit. :sadviolin:The trailer is getting the axle swap tomorrow. We are using my buddy's lift, and the jeep body would've been too tall. I have not attached the new floor yet because of this. I am looking forward to assembling the big parts. Soon. Standby for tomorrow's mediocrity.

I need to move somewhere that I can afford some space to do cool projects like this and working on my Taco for that matter. I just hate long commutes so I'm stuck in the city paying crazy rent just to have a garage and an off street parking space. So I enjoy reading about stuff like this, keep it comin'!

Thank you. My house and property are very small though. I just converted one of the bedrooms to become part of the garage which was actually just a carport when I bought the place.

I want to keep the center of gravity low-ish, so the new axle will be mounted with the springs under it just like the old. Because of that, I had to remove the trailer fenders. I will modify them and re-install them after the new wheel/ tire combo. The new wheels will be quite a bit bigger. Also, part of the reason I'm replacing the axle is because the old one is bent. Notice how horrible the old tires are wearing.

Yes!! I would have LOVED to have done this with a forerunner, but it did not make sense for me.

Haha, I will be definitely dragging this dumb thing around town. For now just imagine it with doors and orange paint.

Axle swap is done! I ended up using the old U-bolt flip kit from the Tacoma. It fit the new axle perfectly. I still need to remove the now upside down bump stops and trim the bolts.

This morning, I put the jeep body back on and put the floor in for the first time. It all fits together great!

Made some really good progress yesterday. Attached the floor to the body and started filling in the gaping holes in the front and rear. Also reattached the back doors.

Well, it is pretty much weatherproof now, so I moved it out of the garage. Now I can work on it with a little more space and sunshine. Also the backyard is much more private with less chance for intrigued neighbors to interrupt, LOL. More importantly though, but Tacoma gets its garage back.
