Yes, I have frequently bought cigarette adapters and done that. If you want to do a permanent installation, there is an extra accessory fuse you can wire it to.

I'm definitely want to do some wheeling. l live in Westmoreland county by Loyalhanna lake and we've got some decent easier trails that I run around here. Lately I've been cruising Derry Ridge doing some exploring. I've wheeled Connelsville with the guys from PGH Offroad. Would love to get back there.

I’m in a stock OR- anyhow, what do you guys recommend for basic recovery gear?

    i.e.

    tow straps?
    Hi-lift?
    Shovel?

If your not going to get a winch a come-along is probably your best friend. IMO a highlift is a waste on money. I have one. Unless you have rock sliders or a big bumper you really cannot use them or you will scratch your ride up.

I have and think a bottle jack is better. You don’t have to lift your entire suspension up before your wheel is off the ground.
I keep a shovel and a tomahawk for camping in the truck.

I have been looking at the traction boards, but they are expensive and are bulky to stow. They do however double as a shovel.
The best thing to do is to be wise and pick lines that won’t get you stuck.
For wheeling I also think there are more important things than recovery gear as I often wheel alone.

What’s everyone’s essentials for wheeling alone?

    I always take:
    Shovel
    Water
    Food
    Lighter
    Radio
    Tire Chains (1 set)
Make sure to not get too iffy to need a come along!
Give plans to friend in case I get stranded

It looks like your 2nd gen gives more storage space than my 3rd gen. I do have a couple pockets behind the seats where I keep straps. My tire chains, regular 20’ chain, and jumper cables take up all the space my under the seat space. I do also have a tire plug kit. It’s more for a road trip tool than off road tool. I figure I’ll just put my spare on if I get a flat. I used to take my compressor but stopped airing down when I moved away from the desert. I like your idea of having a battery powered chainsaw a lot! Just pricey like you said.

The battery ones I’ve seen are pretty homeowner branch based. Unless there’s been recent changes I’ve missed!

The Milwaukee one is bad ass. We have one at work. Small powerful and would be plenty to take wheeling. But it’s not small enough to store inside.

I have not seen the Milwaukee Chain saw yet. But there heavy duty cordless circular saw works well!
