Can tell you from personal experience going through the dozen or so water crossings in WV i didnt have a single drop of water in my diffs...people give horror stories about getting water in their diff and i have no idea how...i changed my rear end fluid after coming home as a couple of people had told me about the rear end is probably full of water....there is so much of a vacuum on the rear end that there no way your sucking water in past the seals. i also did my front diff a month later after wheeling with loco for the first time. no water there either.

The only way i can see someone sucking water, or getting water into their diffs are from being say in the desert or extremely hot environment and going through extremely cold mountain water and the temp change would cause the seal to not seal due to thermal expansion or the breather failing open. With the way its capped i dont see debris getting into it. Putting a check valve on the rear end makes sense. If you allow the rear end to only push pressure out the rear end will have a "neutral" pressure when at operating temperature. When it cools it will then create a vacuum. thus said vacuum would pull the seals inward thus sealing them even more.

you can tell Toyota has been around the block on that because from a mechanical standpoint using pressure to help your seals is always better. I also know if the breather was and issue or it didnt function they would have changed it. Toyota knows what people are doing with their trucks.... i can tell you the front how ever does not have a check valve and is run to the firewall.

Why do i mention all of this? may help someone in the future reading this. if adding breather extensions helps you sleep at night do so. but i can tell you push fitting leak. that tubing is pretty durable and have no doubts about anything made by ARB, BUT keeping things simple is often the best way of keeping things from failing.

Adding to the what did I get for my taco theme we have going on. This is what I’ve got thus far:
    B7448417-E652-4D14-A78C-48E42BB449F7.jpg

I’m still waiting on my ditchlight brackets, relay holder and rear light mount from rago. I was also able to finally track down a group 35 battery after 2 weeks of searching - this was from the help of a gentleman named John Russo whom is the NE rep for odyssey- highly recommend.

I decided to order new hub assemblies since I'm doing the front brakes anyhow. Not sure how far that'll push the job back, but hopefully it'll save downtime in the future. My hope is to install everything next Saturday.

I think I might have Jiffy Lube change my air filter. It’s just about time to do a little maintenance on the Taco...

not sure here. going to be weather and part pending. i also think i may have a bad universal joint.

if i get parts and its semi poopy out im probably going to putting in batteries and figuring out how im going to cram 5 gallons of wires in to a 4 gallon bucket.

if its nice and no parts ill probably be game.

Also still waiting on hubs to come. No ship date, but only coming from NJ. I have electrical things I'd like to work out in the near future as well.
