length of antenna is going to limit transmitting range. also checking your SWR. a shitty SWR will mean shitty transmission. SWR has nothing to do with reception. a poor SWR will also burn your CB up. SWR is directly linked to your grounding. i used a "star" washer with grease to insure proper/ good grounding.

As far as your rock sliders...from having mine the short period of time this is what ive taken away.

i read a lot about how people wished they would have got them powdered due to them rusting so quickly. they do take some abuse.

around here with the salt and rocks, youll be painting them every spring...especially using the tops as steps. it will eat the paint away in no time.

as far as finding someone with an oven that big to powder them - good luck. you need a whole walk in booth to get them baked for powder.

if your getting the 0 degree ones you may want to op to NOT get the kick outs. i can tell you when Loco and i went they were a double edged sword. yes they protect your rockers, but they also make you wider....i have the 20 degree ones (i think) and some places it was tight...also you may or may not want to get the top plates to stand on. that close to the truck you really don't stand on that portion, at least on the 20 degree ones, you just stand on the outside tube. also that being said i have no clue how much snow the plates will hold during the winter. - was the main reason why i didnt get plates. and i use mine to get in and out constantly. if you don't you get dirt on your pants.

    hope that helps

i will also throw this out there. i think the rock sliders were around 900 ish for what i got. - top plates and what not will be more so say 1K

you mentioned about being scrapy- for around 1300 you can get a lift and will get you away from all that stuff. 2" does a lot. you can get that for $1300. although you lift it you will def need a step, but i dont find the rock sliders to be good steps IMO.

its 50/50. i bought my sliders (as well as most of the other stuff for my truck) to help cutting wood. i put the rock sliders on because when i cut wood alone i cannot see stumps. i bought the lift first (after my stocks springs slacked out) and would do it again. for wheeling nothing beats a lift...well besides a winch

I know it’s not in the Pittsburgh area, but you guys might consider exploring the Susquehannock State Forest. I was just up there a few weeks ago to do some stargazing (near zero light pollution). It’s beautiful up there.

I would like to find some local areas to explore... at least areas that are accessible for my little 5-luggy Taco.

About four hours northeast, up in Potter County. It’s a long drive but there are lots of cool things to see up there.
On the way, you can stop at Kinzua Bridge State Park to see the iconic bridge ruins. It’s an amazing thing to see.

We may be headed out on a family trip next month, maybe this will be our first stop! Any camping recommendations?

I’m limited as to where I can go with my 2WD truck, so I usually camp at Cherry Springs State Park or Lyman Run State Park. The campground at Cherry Springs is usually booked up several months out because it’s become very popular over the past few years.

I do know that there are a lot of random roads in the forest overall, and you can truck camp just about anywhere but I think you have to call the park office and tell them where so they can issue a permit (free, I believe).
I’ve seen a lot of dirt roads and pull-offs while exploring up there, I just never drove down any of them for fear of getting stuck.

Great, I’ll look more into it. We are discussing the White Mountains and possibly catch the North East Backcountry Discovery Route pending how long my 3 year old can take it! She does like “weable wobbly” roads

BTW, this was my “Lifetime” coolers ice retention from a four day trip! I started with a 20 pound bag from Get-go without pre cooling.

I ordered some rock sliders yesterday. There pretty damn expensive, but after having the long bed in WV, I feel there kind of a necessity unless I went to bend my doors shut. I got the Cali-Raised ones shipped for 798.00.

I also got the bed stiffness for my bed rack

I’ll be down in triple creek. I’m bringing my mountain bike, but am going to do some exploring.

I might hit Raccoon Creek this weekend, still ironing out the details.

Yeah, even though I’m really trying to get away from organized campgrounds. People are annoying, lol.
I found a decent site that is isolated and surrounded by trees, so I guess it will be ok.
I’m going to take my bike and camera gear and check out some of the trails, including the one for the waterfall and spring.
