Hey guys, so this weekend my truck went for a swim. Got it home, changed all the fluids, new MAF, cleaned air intake. It runs fine but the problem is that it won't start by turning the key. I replaced the starter relay which I thought was the problem but still no go.. any ideas?

    Possibilities are endless,

however how are you getting it started if you cant use the key? hot wire? If so what did you take out of the equation?

Yes hot wire, the starter relay. So it has to be that right?

Check power at the starter relay, but depending on where you hotwired it, it may be the ignition? Pull up the appropriate wiring diagram and chase the issue. You already made great progress knowing it still runs.

Okay will do, thanks man. Any other big issues I should be mindful of? Water was about a foot and a half in the cab, just under the door handles

I would pull the interior, pressure wash the floor/seats/doors, let everything else dry and spot clean it the best you can.

Those are the wiring diagram for our trucks. At the very least, you can see where the power starts and travels through to get everything running. start the the beginning and work back. The fact you can hotwire it is a great start.

Do you have a dealer installed toyo alarm? Gray module under seat, two modules under dash, one is glass break, other is bs, or is their wire taps on ignition wiring in column?

I would light it on fire, that should dry it out.

Already stripped the interior, will do.
    Thanks for those diagrams.
No I don't have the alarm but I have no idea about the wire taps on the column.

Maybe think about buying a Boat if you want to be in the water .

When you changed the relay are you sure you got a good one??

How did the socket look ??

How long was the truck in the water ??

What about the clutch safety or neutral switch if auto

If it was up to the dash it's an insurance total.

Truck will have electrical gremlins fo along time. Plan on anything electrical go out or causing problems. ECU any control module, wiper motor, any electric motor. Switches etc.

If it was in the water for any amount of time .

The water will push into the ECM via the plugs making your ECM a ticking time bomb.

I hope you have a good friend with equipment to rescue your truck !!

Till all the water damaged parts are replaced

Sorry I haven't posted about how it's been going. I figured out that it wouldn't start because of the anti theft module was all fried, interior is all in and everything else looks good.. expect one problem. When I rev it up it will only go to about 2500rpms and big down then rev back up to 2500 then back down. It's throwing a 3rd cylinder misfire so I replaced the sparks and coil but still the same. What do I check next?
