I recently bought a new to me '10 DC that came with a practically brand new Leer camper shell....which is one of things that drew me to this truck....I'm a camper shell guy. The only problem is the shell came with the solid windows and twist out vents. I use my shell primarily to haul my dog and actual camping. The vent just don't cut it for these purposes. Has anyone had experience changing the window system out to sliders or windoor/slider combo?

I would look to the junk yards for a mashed one that would work for you. Not long ago someone left one on my street with a broken rear window, Leer wanted as much for the window as for a shell on Craigslist. Have you called Leer for pricing. ?

No, this is was first stop. I was already thinking that the new windows would be disproportionately priced. It's ashame b/c this is a nearly $2,000 camper shell that is almost brand new.

No matter what you do it's still very hot for dogs to sit in there for a long road trip. Seen someone on here made a top ac fan on there camper. Anyways, I had a leer and took the windows off and it seem to be very easy to put a different one. Windows selling for 100-300, CL and ebay.

if it's a 100XQ with windows that twist vent at the rear bottoms, then no, you can't change the windows. it is what it is.

It is the 100XQ. Is that due to the "SUV" style windows?

Yes. It's the way the shell is molded. My Leer dealer had all models on the floor when i bought mine. Some of their other models have window options. The XQ doesn't. I wanted windoors, wife wanted the XQ. Guess who won that argument.

Weathertech floor liners moded to hold OEM floor mats, weathertech vent visors, Toyota bed mat, LEER 100XL cap, hood gasket mod to stop whistling.
I don't think that you can change the side windows. Do you have a front slider, that you can change. You have 3 options, solid front, sliding front, and sliding fold out front. I prefer the sliding fold out front. I've had a 100r and now a 100xl, loved them both and people do haul dogs in them.

Looks like a XQ shell might be hitting the marketplace soon
