Swap out your shift knob?

Anyone here swap out their shift knob? Is this possible on the automatics?

 

If you turn it clockwise they don't come off and are impossible to remove.

However, some have been able to turn their knobs left and were able to loosen them.

 

Yes it unscrews just like the 2nd Gen. Pull the trim ring that attaches to the bottom of the shift knob down towards the console, it will pop out and just unscrew it like normal. You will have to do something with that chrome piece. There's going to be a large hole in the top of your shifter boot to deal with.

 

Do the Australian-market trucks work like this, but opposite?

Yes, it is possible. It does just screw on and off.
There is a legend here known at @Unchained 5150 whom is somewhat the official source of "the knob"

I can confirm that @Unchained 5150 gives a good knob.
