If you have audio controls on the steering wheel then it is the same steering wheel. If not, then you will need a new steering pad w/ airbag. The audio controls will be plug and play. the BT controls can be added however you will need an aftermarket radio and you will need to into the factory 20pin plug.

The audio controls will work no problem. Plug and play. the Bt will need a MIC, which is in the rear view mirror from the factory and you will need the JBL stereo. Serious $$$$. The wiring is thier but you are looking at $200+ for the mirror, $200+ for the radio, and $100+ for the BT controls.

Hmmm I had no idea there were some without audio controls... thought all TRD as the same as well... interesting. I'm still trying to get my steering wheel changed out by Toyota as it cracked 2 months after having it....

The harness is there that connects the buttons to the deck. When you take the stereo out there will be a connector that isn't pluged in with 3 wires thats for the wheel controls. Also when you take the airbag off you will see connector.

that's what I figured since it would be ridiculous amounts of money to have different wiring harnesses for all the different model tacomas...too much work as well...

BTW...you don't need the JBL stereo to use the BT...you can have an aftermarket deck like me...Pioneer DEH-P980BT is what I'm running with bluetooth...I put the mic in the a-pillar its flush mounted and I have the audio coming through the speakers...I would like to get the BT buttons from the Sequoia steering wheel and incorporate it into the 1 my truck came with (TRD W/audio buttons)...I think that would look clean and sick as hell...

My friend told me that after market head units come with kits that you could still use your steering wheel controls

not all aftermarket head units come with the steering wheel control module...some units you need to purchase that separetly...like I did for my Pioneer DEH-P9800BT...I purchased the steering wheel module to work with my pioneer deck off of ebay for $39.99 + $7.99 for shipping...

its about half price for the steering wheel module off of ebay versus going to pac-audio.com where its like $85.95 for the same exact model module (SWI-PS)

Yeah i realized that i pretty much said all. My friend did get a new head unit and it came with a kit. I would hate not being able to use my controls.

FYI, if you get Eclipse all you need to do is tap into pins 6-8 on the 20pin factory harness. Pin7 is GND. Pin 6 is audio controls, pin 8 is BT controls.

It is not so much the steering wheel as the steering pad that has the airbag. Once you add the Audio controls, you will also need a blank for right side. The old steering pad will not fit. Ebay sometimes has them. I don't think I would go to a junkyard when dealing w/ an airbag. But's that's me.

There are actually two different wire harnesses (spiral cables) one for the stock head unit and one for the JBL head unit. If you have the JBL head unit you should be fine. I have a Sr5 stock head unit and my spiral cable broke (airbag srs light is on), that's how I know. Check this link, my part number is 84306‑04080 (stock head unit) you should have 84306‑0E010 : http://www.toyodiy.com/parts/p_U_2006_TOYOTA_TACOMA_GRN245L-PRADKA_8401.6.html

Thailand? I would pass. But that's me. Seeing it is an airbag, I would want to make sure I knew it work. Check the junkyard, or you might have to get it online.

In my opinion the buttons are somewhat of a disappointment... The only thing I think is positive about them is they light up when you have your lights on, which help at night. One thing I don't like is that 1/4 of the time the button doesn't work or respond to my press. Another thing is that the volume button is basically useless, because who adjusts their volume only 2 or 3 on the volume scale? I find myself having to go from 40 to 30 or vice versa, and the volume button takes a whole lot longer than just turning the knob. Granted it is a good idea, but they could make this better if it actually worked. I also have a Rav4, and when that things sound is on 15, that is the equivalent of 35 on the Tacoma. A little bit strange to me.
