    Hey All,

My 2015 has been a great truck...but got the bug, and swapped it out last night for a 2017.

Now time to search around for mod ideas. First few things I already know I will do...

-Get rid of the pinstriping, and possibly the decals
-Front windows tinted to match the rear
-Take the bottom valance off from under the front bumper

Noticeable differences for me on the first day of driving it...

-Definitely less hiding places in the interior than there was in the 2015
-I like the stock tires that came on the '15 better than these ones

    Sweet ride, congrats!
I do agree about the tires, I'd change those rough riding buggers as first order of business and enjoy the great looking truck.

    Cheers!

In my 2015, the center console was larger, and had a very nice "nook" for my .380. In front of the cupholder was a big storage space where I had pens, flashlight, some other stuff. To the right of the steering wheel on the lower dash was a cubby hole into the dashboard where I had some other stuff, and then to the left of the steering wheel there was a flip-down storage space where I kept a few credit cards I'd use only when in the truck, and some other stuff. Last but not least, the cupholder had rubber inserts, and I kept some emergency funds in there.

In my 2017 that's all changed. The center console is smaller, the storage space in front of the cupholder is smaller and flat so it probably won't hold the stuff I had there before, the space to the right of the steering wheel is gone, the flip down to the left of the steering wheel is now just an open hole and I wouldn't put credit cards or money in there now. Last but not least, cupholder doesn't have the removable inserts.

It's obviously not a deal breaker, and the new interior is neat, but I will miss all the hiding places for my "stuff".

I will pay to lose 1mpg to get rid of that plastic valance that makes it look shorter.

Does anyone know how the power sliding rear window works? Is there a screw attached to the window, or is it on some type of gear track? Just curious. It's neat.

I am thankful for the moonroof, very cool.

I have read goods and bads (mostly bads) about the tranny, but from the first day, this thing seems "peppier" than my 2015.

How did you get your badges off? Did you do it yourself with a blowdryer or heatgun, or did you take it somewhere?

A few reasons. I don't like everything about the 2017 more than the 2015, but I do like the body style, and some of the additional features that it comes with (moonroof, heated seats). I like the improvement to the entune system, as that is probably my single largest complaint about the 2015...I hated entune. I haven't had a ton of time with this one, but it seems like it's better. I won't bore everyone with every detail, but the body style and some of the features are a few of the primary reasons.

It was also an easy swap to make. I went from an Audi S4 that I loved into that 2015 Tacoma because I needed a family vehicle. The value was so high on that car that when I bought the Tacmoa, the due balance and the loan was laughably small, but at 2% interest, I just kept paying it. With 40,000 miles on the 2015 and as in great of shape as it was in, I did very well on the trade in, so again, the due balance and loan is still laughably small. Let's just say it's a very, very comfortable payment, and only 36 months. I will likely keep this until 2020. Not bragging at all, don't take it the wrong way. I just had a really nice car that I worked really hard for, and the way I managed the financing put me in a very good position going forward. I feel bad for those who get "upside down", I've always been on the opposite side of that.

I just used fishing line, no heat of any kind (although, it was a warm day in Texas)

Used Goo Gone for the leftover residue

    Like they were never there!

Awesome, thanks. Did you have pinstripes too, or just the badges? I'm not old enough to have pinstripes!

    Like, so many.
I used a blow drier, floss, and WD40. But it's super easy.

I saw here once a cool accessory...it was a power distribution block to put accessories into. It had multiple outlets to put in DC electronics. I can't seem to find it again. Anybody remember what that was? I think it'd be a good idea for my FD lights and radar detector to start.

    "Swapped 2015 for 2017"

op thanks for the post - So you actually like the 2017 sport over the 2015 sport - can you elaborate a little more - - the 2017 feels peppier? What about the ride overall - stiffer in the 15 or 17? Did the 15 shift quicker?
    thanks
(I actually like the 15 body style better) but couldn't find a decent one for the price - so I went with the 2017 sport - only problem I have found is the ride is very stiff especially when hitting pot holes or going over bridge gaps

I don't know if I'm the best person to ask, I have trouble getting used to my new vehicles when I change, but I'll share some things.

My 15 (in my Avatar) didn't have any side steps or nerf bars, but the 17 came with them installed. I don't know if it's my "feeling" or because of the tube steps, but the 17 feels like it sits lower. I am thinking about lifting it 2" because of this, or maybe taking off the tube steps and seeing what happens. It could also be the seat...maybe the seat sits lower with a more legs forward position.

In terms of acceleration, the most I can say at the moment is that it's weird. At some points in time, it feels faster/peppier, but sometimes it feels sluggish. It's really hard to explain, and I haven't figured it out yet. For example, yesterday we had a call, so I booked it to the fire station. As I'm en route, when I'd slow down for traffic, get around them, and get back up to speed again, it felt like from already rolling to getting back up to speed that the 17 was slower than my 15. But, when we were all done with the call and I left the fire station, pulling out from a dead stop and getting up to 60 it did well, and the 17 felt faster than my 15. I have not really figured out how to drive this thing yet with the way that it acts. Reversing into my garage which is a small uphill, I do not like...the 15 would easily idle into the garage. The 17 I need to really play with the throttle to get it to back in there.

This 17 does in fact shift quicker, and more often. It rips through gears like there is no tomorrow, and I don't know yet how to work this well. ECT on/off, whatever...at the moment it's just "different". Like I said above, there are sometimes it feels faster/peppier, sometimes it doesn't. I know that doesn't make a whole lot of sense, but that's the best I can share at the moment.

The ride is similar, but probably some better stuff on the 17. My 15 used to bounce across the tracks, this one does it about the same. If I slow down across the tracks, the 17 seems to bob and weave across the tracks a bit less than the 15 did. But on roundabouts and on/offramps, this one feels like it's holding steadier. When I back into my driveway, the 15 was quite a bump over the curb hump, the 17 is considerably less. The 15 was stiff, and probably stiffer than this one, but I like a stiff ride.

Well, thats about what I can share for the first two days.

Anybody happen to come across or know about that power distribution block that goes under the hood I was talking about? I saw it here somewhere once. A block under the hood connected to the battery, distributes power to all your add-on accessories. I've scoured the internet, but I cannot find it. All I can seem to find are similar things with switch banks for JK's.
