Local junkyard claims they will have 2003 4runner bucket seat tomorrow. Will that fit straight up in my 1998 tacoma, or will I need one of those planted brackets or modification?

Gotcha thanks. Speaking with a guy from wet okele, he claims that only 98-01 tacoma and 4runner would be straight forward swap for seats. At 2002.5 the seats changed dramatically and wouldn't be easy swap.

4runner up to the "2002 model" so yeah in mid '02 they were making the newer '03 style. still only 3/4 brackets from T4R, the 4th needs changed as people previously stated in this thread :)

Tacoma 98-04 definitely should work (is the 95.5-97 different?)

Went to the junkyard yesterday, had a 2000 4runner seat, pretty dirty and missing whole plastic side. Almost got it, talked him down to 60 bucks.

Looks like the left front mount is flatter, and in my tacoma has a 90 degree bend. Is that what you guys were saying about 3/4 holes, thought you meant 3/4 inch drilling not 3 out of the 4 holes.

Do you just bend that 4th corner? I'm wavering about getting the seat. I will be putting on seat covers, but it is comfy as is. No other seats right now.

Now these are from my current seat:

BTW, thanks for the help everybody. I ended up finding a 2001 Tacoma seat as well that swapped out directly. Slightly different color, but much more comfortable than my other old seat - more lumbar support. Also, that new center console is amazing. Having two extra cup holders now, and the storage... I don't know why it took me so long to make this happen. Highly recommend.

I just need to find some cloth seat covers now.
