Swapping the SR5 radio for the radio in the Tech package?

posted this over in the Audio -- No responses --thought I would ask here
This is for 3rd gen only
anyone with real life experience or knowledge of swapping out the standard equipment SR5 radio with the premium radio that comes with the Tech pkg. on a SR5. I have read here that the Nav antenna may not work --but what about all of the other features of the radio. Please real time knowledge -- I appreciate "guesses" , but if I invest in the head unit/radio -- I would like to know for sure ahead of buying it --if the darn thing will work.
This would be on a 2017 SR5.

skip the oem and buy a better unit.

 

Someday maybe -- but right now-- no. So I take it you have no knowledge on this swap?

there was a thread selling the premium head unit in the buy/sell/trade sometime last year. pretty much the guy had a few premium head units from possibly wrecked tacomas. you'll need a gps antenna since your current antenna is only for xm. the oem antenna isn't cheap, but when i researched this last year, you could get an aftermarket one for around $30.
