I've been doing some research lately and I've come to the conclusion that replacing my current automatic transmission for a six speed manual would be a cool/good idea....I don't get a lot of those. I drive a 2006 access cab prerunner sr5 with a 4.0L V6 engine. What parts do I need to do this, where can I find these, and what are some tips for a person like me who loves doing this kind of stuff themselves? (I'll have help with this project, of course)

You are likely better off selling your current truck and buying what you want rather than doing a conversion.

    Btw: welcome to the forum.

Yes, always. Probably a conversion is only "cost effective" if you already have over $10k in mods into your vehicle.

Even then, I'd buy the new one, swap the mods and sell the old one.

Tip: Don't do it. Trade and get what you want.

Back in the days well before computer controls and 5.6 million sensors a transmission swap was a piece of cake and people did it because it was cool and all.

Now on a modern engine automatic transmission set up I wouldn't even try it. Too many things can go horribly wrong.
