The bushings on my 99 toyota tacoma sway bar links are bad do I just replace the bushings or is it like a bolt there that I have to replace as we'll?

I suggest you get the improved bushings rather then the stock rubber, they say they are better and last longer because they don't dry out like rubber does

I just took my sway bar off. If you want the parts to mount them up PM me, I am missing one rubber grommet/bushing. Dang thing ran away and I think went down the storm drain haha. If you are comfortable with it, try running without one. I like it more

Just did mine this past weekend. What a difference. Too bad I took it off later than sooner.

Its a very nice ride without one. I was wary at first too. The truck will drive different. But I enjoy it. Threw the sway bar away same day I took it off.

Uh yes!! Removed mine a couple weeks ago. I'm pissed I drove around jarring the shit outta myself and the truck for so many years!! I have a six inch lift too and I don't find it to be scary or dangerous...can't believe how much better it is as far as comfort and off road capability! Seems the rear end even performs better since that stupid bar isn't binding up the front end and making the rear flex more to compensate for the front not having any independent movement.

The bottom nut on the link I tried to take off but the bolt it's on keeps spinning so I can't get it off?? Is it suppose to do that an if so how do I get it to stop spinning so I can get that nut off?

True true, one of mine did this. I used a Crescent (open end adjustable) wrench jammed on the back side. If you look/feel carefully there are four (iirc) flat spots on the back of the fastener. Kind of a PITA to get it and to hold it, butI got it to hold long enough for the air tool to pop it loose.

EDIT FYI I took the wheel off to give me more room, you might want to as well.

There is an Alan head on that bolt, hold the bolt in place with the Alan and spin that nut right off there with a good ole open end wrench. BTW the Alan head is on the same side of the bolt as the nut, very easy to do.. no need fur a crescent jammed in on the back side.

My passenger side has an Allen head on it but my drivers side doesn't. Any ideas on how to get it off?

Dang!! Really?...I guess try the crescent jammed in on the back side like as stated in the post before mine....or if there is enough threads showing try to get some channel locks on there to hold the bolt in place...

    is this a 4wd thing?

would a 2wd street truck do better without it? seams its helpful for street use but I can see why its useless off road

If you want to rally the truck around corners leave it on.

no rally driving for me I drive like a pawpaw

just don't understand what it would do for me and my strictly paved road use truck, I know it will lean in corners without it (that's what its made to prevent) so im unsure if the ride will really be any smoother driving around without it on paved roads to be worth extra wear on the edges of the front tires in turns

I probably wouldn't do it if it was strictly a street truck. Tires will wear a little more and the rear inner tire will want to lift more on turns.
