Do I need longer sway bar links for a 3 inch suspension lift on a 02 tocoma?

No. With IFS the range of motion does not change when you lift the truck- it just sits in a different position within that range.

With 3" of lift your springs are so compressed that the sway bar makes little difference in body roll.

Most people remove the swaybar completely if they are actually wheeling the truck so the wheels can actually move independently.

As Andy mentioned, no, you don't need longer links.

I know this is the common perception, and I removed my sway bar years ago for this reason. I found this video quite interesting however. it made me curious if we've all been doing it wrong (though, admittedly, the rear end of our trucks is different than the FJ).

For me, no swaybar had had other benefits too: a place to mount the limit strap, easier access to the steering rack, trans removal, etc. But would be cool to know how it really affects travel.

    makes complete sense

on AutoX tracks every corvette driver has their rear sway bar removed for same reason

I have approx. 3" of lift dialed in on the front of my '97 V6 Taco Xcab 4x4 and have wheeled it hard here in MS for many years without the front sway bar (FSB) installed. It definitely wheels better for me without the FSB. But I recently reinstalled the FSB with the Energy bushings because of more & longer highway driving in the '97 Taco's future. The FSB installed with standard length links made a very noticeable difference in body roll while turning hard such as when simulating an emergency lane change on the highway. The Taco is up on jack stands now getting a new set of KOYO FWBs and manual hub inner bearings to go with the reinstalled FSB. .02

An interesting video indeed. But doesn't change what I said, which was specifically that removing sway bar allows the wheels to move independently. I didn't say anything about more or less flex :D Given that the tacoma has leaf springs, and no stock sway bar, it's going to make the comparison much harder, but I think the point of the video boils down to actually wanting some control of the rear with a sway bar to control weight distribution in the front end. :notsure:
