Swaybar Relocation Bracket and Front Diff Drop Question

I'm sure this is on here somewhere but I couldn't find anything so here I am. I have a 2014 Tacoma with a 3" Rough Country Lift. I have already installed the Carrier Bearing Drop, I have left to install the Sway-bar Relocation Bracket and the Front Diff Drop.

Anyone know, can I do it while sitting on the concrete pad without jacking up the truck or taking wheels off? I was planning on just removing the skid plate then jut take the bolt out that hold the sway bar to the frame and install the bracket, without taking the joints or bolts off of the spindle. Is this possible or is it under too much pressure with the weight of the vehicle? I know the front diff drop you have to use a jack to support the diff when you take the 2 front bolts out.

As far as the diff drop goes, there are the 2 one inch spacers for the front, but my Toytec kit came with 4 smaller spacers. are those for the skid plate? Or the 4 bolts on the diff behind the 2 front big bolts? The directions that came with it are not very clear and the sway-bar brackets didn't even come with instructions. I am very mechanically inclined, I just wanted some input from people who have done this before and I just want to do it right the first time so I don't have to pull it all down again after. Don't waste your time putting in the Diff Drop does more harm than good on our Second Gens.

@Blackout14 can you chime in as to why the Diff Drop is not needed on our year trucks???

 

I believe my kit drops the whole diff. It's got 2 spacers that drop the front of the diff where it bolts to the cross member then there are 4 more spacers and hardware to make the skid plate fit after all mods are done. I know it comes with lots of spacers and hardware. It's the Toytec kit if anyone's familiar. It's on their website.

 

I appreciate the input because I'm not familiar with these added kits at all. I've done lots of lifts on my other trucks but never needed any of the other stuff for it.

 

Personally I would throw the sway bar in the trash along with the diff drop. Some may tell you you're gong to kill a bus full of nuns and children of you leave it off but most of those guys are web wheelers. The diff drop is more of a diff rotation and doesn't really improve upon anything. Your best bet is to do the ecgs cv bearing and keep an eye on the boots and eventually install better boots or do the boot slide mod.

 

Fairly certain it's a preload spacer and top plate spacer. If not I'd recommend driving it without first and more often than not it won't go back on because it'll ride so much better.

 

Ok, I guess I'll scrap the diff drop and send it back, but I'd like to keep the swaybar... Thanks folks for the input!

 

@Redneck92 it's just one top spacer for the Rough Country Lift.

 

Ok, then it may be best to leave it on. It's to much of a bear to take out only to try it without and figure out you don't like it off.

 

How much stress is the swaybar under with my truck sitting in the parking lot? Can I just unbolt it from the frame only and install the spacer or will it go crazyou when I unbolt it from being under stress?

 

If the truck is level then theoretically there should be no stress on the bar. However that's never going to happen. Whenever you do install the spacer take one or both sides off at the knuckle and it will make the install a lot easier so you're not fighting it as much.
