Too poor to list anything interesting.
I'm actually going to put a rear dash cam in the truck. I was considering on having it more to the driver side. It was a slight change to have a tire there all the time, but nothing of an annoyance or unsafe.

nice. its on the top of my list for next mod.

I guess they do show left and right tire mounts for that bumper, but its not listed as an option to select. maybe you just have to ask.

Couldn't hurt to ask. Seems to me like mounting the spindle on the other side and flipping the gate over to weld the mount to.

    @TacoGold
Here's some reference shots of the back tire

Notice from inside of the truck, you can easily see most of the car behind you.

It's safer that way if you have to pull to the side of the road to change a tire. You won't be on the traffic side of the truck trying to remove the tire.

yeah this makes sense. though of course that only helps for so long if your flat is on the drivers side

Maybe it's so that when you pull off the edge of the road on the right side, gravity holds the tire out of the way to open the tailgate. Maybe in the UK, they swing to the left.

Not for changing it, just for wrestling the spare off the rack.

What? The swingout has to be open to take the wheel off? I don't have one of these bumpers of course, but can you not detach the wheel with the swingout closed? Seems to me you'd want it latched when taking the wheel nuts off so as to not torque the pivot unnecessarily...

It was just a guess...I don''t have one, so...
Maybe it's so if you want to swing it out of the way to open the tailgate, again, it's towards the curb side...

I've wondered too. Don't see any good reasons not to have the tire on the driver's side.

Didn't read through the thread, so maybe its already been stated, but it's so the gate doesn't swing out into traffic if you're pulled to the side and have to open it. Also it would be a pain in the ass as the driver to have to walk around that thing everytime you go to the back of the truck (Think truck camping).

Simple....Because it causes an interweb uproar. :annoyed:

Ya got 3 choices....left, middle, or right. And right is right, so there....

Don't buy the "into traffic reason". If you pull over and open any door on the driver's side that will swing out into traffic farther than the gate. If you step out of the vehicle that will place you farther into traffic than the gate.

You need to pull off the road in a better place rather than worry about the gate being in traffic.
