This is why I didn't even mention saw in a documentation I sent, because if Joe comes we have a blade maniac on board

To be fair though I'll probably bring my hultafors. It's the same edge just not as polished and longer handle. Works better the GB is more for backpacking

I got a Wetterlings felling axe for a wedding gift that I use as a splitting axe :cookiemonster:

I had never used a good axe before I got it, it made me realize how the proper one makes it all the easier, along with the proper splitting style. I was splitting all wrong until I got that axe.

You bastards are getting me all excited for the trip :argue:

I’ll be bringing my power tools, well three. Portable radio, impact and sawzall.
A fresh 10” wood blade will take down a few trees before recharging, but yeah if a massive tree falls we are smart enough to get it out of the way. My brother is an aborist part time, ill see if he would let me borrow a fancy chainsaw for the week if no one else brings one.

Someone said first aid and fire extinguishers. I do that for volunteer so hopefully i can take care of any issues if they happen

wetterlings is hard to find now days but they're basically the same as a hultafors. I don't evne think you can still get a wetterlings brand anymore as they were bought by Hulks Bruk.
Eitherway Hultafors, HB and Granfors Bruk are all handmade swedish axes. Some of the best the only real difference from the HK/Hultafors and the GB is the level of finishing they do on a GB. You will not find any grind marks on a GB, they are all polished edges and will shave, vs the other two need a little honing to get them to shave.

That said its a matter of using the right tool for the job. They will split wood but they are more so for chopping so not the greatest splitter.

Thats good, I'm certified in first aid as well. But still these are things you should just have in your truck in general and even more so if you camp.

And when it comes to tools I'll have plenty as I always do. And will be bringing the new impact wrench I got. Thing's a beast.

Personally I just do not like chainsaws. As useful as they are they are also incredibly dangerous.
Like @Ttaco15 said I personally prefer a sawzal or hand saw/axe.

To be fair prior to chainsaws it was always an axe used for felling trees and breaking them down to smaller sizes.
I've seen one idiot put a circular saw into his thigh, luckily not too deep but still its a nasty sight and I would never want to see it from a chainsaw as that would be even worse.

If anyone does bring a chainsaw, please make sure you at least know how to safely use it.

No fooling, chainsaws are the dangerous.

Dont fool yourself, those hand saws will take your thumb or finger off pretty fast!@

I had to get 5 stitches in my hand last summer because I was rushing with mine, and because I was rushing I didnt put my gloves on. Just a bunch of stupid things led to OUCH.

they can and yes I have fucked up with a hacksaw at work before and gave myself a pretty nasty cut.

But majority of the cuts you would do with one of those saws would be something you can manage with basic first aid on a trail. Axe can be dangerous so just ensure the axe head is properly secure and just know how to swing.

But a chainsaw can quickly and easily remove limbs, a fuck up with a chainsaw could be life or death.

Any tool can be extremely dangerous if not used with care. Hell I put a screw into my hand because I didn't clamp my work as I was in a rush working with a drill....

This is the issue when remote. A simple cut, or injury can become an issue. Mind you we are not completely remote, but everyone needs to take care so a small thing doesn't become a big issue.

So I was very interested in going, but I’m going to take myself out for this trip.

I’m not going to have the tires, and with everything going on it’s just not going to be in the cards this year.

Have fun guys, take lots of pictures and hopefully I’ll be in some 33’s come 2019

Hey no worries. Again based on what we have read, 32's (265's) would be the minimum as some of the washouts would cause some serious damage. Also turning around may not be an option based on fuel. Hopefully lots of pictures are taken.

Is there a video on the whole trail? From what I've seen there is the one washout that is pretty bad. Any links?
I really want to come on this one but I need to make absolutely sure the truck is good to go.

Yeah I just put on p rated 245/75/16 falkens, which I think would be pushing it too much.
