Hahaha I’m thinking something that bolts thru to the frame, the wood is really just for pushing, and to comply with NYS traffic regulations.

Indeed, was going to suggest you look up the QC equivalent regs. Might not want to get prohibited at the boarder

    Dunno what they are...

I'd be thinking do it with a bypass as most of us do not have high clearance

That is an excellent suggestion, so I did! This is one thing I found in a very long legalese filled document:

269.Where a road vehicle is equipped with bumpers as original equipment by the manufacturer, they must be solidly attached to the part of the vehicle designed for that purpose.

    Hmmm... ok.

Also found this in some other official looking website.

Replacing the bumper shell, provided the replacement shell is made of a similar material as the original.

So according to that, steel bumpers aren’t legal! I’m guessing this is not enforced.

I may be wrong but I think @Wheelspinner and his buddies didn't had problem at the border and with Qc police officers during their trip...

Steel bumpers are completely legal as some manufactures use them still.

The concern often falls on if insurance will cover

3rd gens have plastic bumpers correct? Would that means there's a crash bar there similar to the front? If not it's pretty uselss in regards to protection (unless u have a hitch) so really would it be any different than just not having it haha

added some stuff to the first page of things people may need. Not all mandatory like a tire repair kit, or air compressor, but things like recovery points I would say are. If your stuck and need to be pulled out and you don have proper recovery points, its going to make for a bad time.

Pretty sure every car has a metal crash bar behind the plastic
