I would like to install these ball mounts between the switches on the lower canter panel. Tried 3M tape at first but the phone mount is too heavy, and definitely won’t hold a iPad mini. So… has anyone seen behind this panel well enough to say wether or not the mounting screws will clear the wiring behind it?

If so, I will pull the panel to make sure I clear everything before drilling the holes, but if not I will do something else to mount it and save the time trying to open the panel.

    Thanks!

Not sure what is behind the panel but I was looking at different tablet mounts this morning and ran across a guy who used Gorilla tape to hold his mounts to the dash. He was mounting magnet pads and did not have the Ram Mount extension hanging off of it. That may be worth a shot if you are unable to screw into the panel.

Thank you for your reply. I know that the 3M tape is great for mounting to slick surfaces that get hot (my rear dash cam camera is mounted on my rear window that gets much too hot to touch), but gorilla tape melts in the heat.

I think it’s because of the texture of that panel that the 3M tape doesn’t do well, so I decided to go ahead and screw the mounts on because I want to use several electronic items mounted to them and those locations are just wasted space between those switches.
