I have a switch mounted in the shift knob area for my light bar and a few times I've bumped it on and not noticed it. Today I came out and hadn't driven it since yesterday during the day and the light bar was on all night which killed my battery. Has anyone built a cage or used a bracket over the switch to prevent this?IMG_2065.jpg

Replace your switch with a safety switch? Though they are quite ugly. Maybe somebody has a better idea.

I don't know what your existing switch is, or its dimensions. But if you can't find one to fit directly you may have to fabricate an adapter bracket.

Edit: Quick example with my fast google-fu.

You could use an inexpensive automotive "cube" relay so as to only power the light bar when the ignition switch is on (or in the accessory position):

The relay's normally open contacts are wired in series with your existing switch, the relay coil is connected to ground and some switched +12 V source--the cigar lighter or "power source" sockets are convenient to your switch. In this manner turning the ignition off would kill the light bar.

If there is an existing relay for the light bar then even better, just get power to your switch from the switched source...

It's a mictuning switch. I really don't want to change the switch out because I'm not good at electrical work and had some trouble putting this one in. I'm thinking about putting a U bolt in over the front edge of the switch to add some protection. Has anyone done something like this?
