Why do you need to turn the Qi off?

and why do you not like ECT on the knob?

On long road trips the Qi pad will get hot after five or so hours of constant use. I use that switch to turn it on mid morning and then off mid afternoon during those trips so that I don't have to listen to that overheat alarm. I also shut it off if anything metallic gets placed in that tray and is not a phone.

I'm not opposed to the ECT on knob, but that's one relo when I need two. My end goal is to be clean above fast and cheap. And right now relocating the seat switches to the ceiling, while weird as fuck, seems to be the cheapest and the fastest by far and still almost as clean as relocating the BSM and parking.

But really, it's the emotional decision. Taping up and stuffing a switch to me is not a clean install. Nobody else will know, but I'll know. That's my telltale heart- it just don't feel right. I'm weird like that.

So I've decided my plan is to eliminate the Qi button. But would like to make it turn on with ignition. Any wiring diagram for that would be great. Or atleast an explanation. Then to wire the two seat heaters into the main switch panel. Next i ordered a 5 addition slot switch from etsy thats 3d printed for my addition light switches. Tons of configuration options for switch panel. I've provided the link below. Seems to have good reviews. Plus it's half the price of the cali raised which didn't have a slot for my clutch start cancel switch anyway. Also any recommendations for a good set of colored wires would be great. The last set I ordered was cheap grade wire that I was not happy with. Thanks.

Does your Qi even work? For charging? Mine never did. Replaced it with an aftermarket one which works better but still not perfect. Didn’t realize metal causes problems with it.

I’d just unplug the qi entirely and use a cable to charge or MagSafe charger with DMM or something. Then relocate ECT and you’re set.

seat heater switches up high is really strange and counter intuitive for a passenger. Also you almost certainly have to extend those harnesses to reach.

    Mine works great for charging.

The harness extension part is easy. I don't like the weird factor either, you are definitely right on that. I did a dry fit of the switches last night in that position, and I don't like how difficult it is to see rocker switches up there. It's livable, but weird.

I guess my next step will be to pull the dash and see how much harness there is to work with on the other switches. If I can have a couple of inches, then I can splice and extend anything. :cookiemonster:

You could always just tuck the QI button inside the dash with it still plugged in and turned on.

If you are at all interested in overkill, I’d go MESO LSP for your truck. It’s a bunch of work but having 7-8 spots is great.

I went w an upgrade from 3 to 5 but hopefully one day I’ll hack my 3 to fit my LSP. Just haven’t budgeted the time.

Yes, very good quality and a small business based on the East coast. Great choices for small lengths of multi color, that’s their niche.

you can get bulk wire for cheaper elsewhere so most of my business goes to prowire now but that’s only because I’m doing volume.

factory wire is 22 I think? I prefer sizing up when extending and I find 20 much easier to work with than 22. But if you want to crimp to a JAE or something then go 22.

Yeah this is my plan for the switches. Now just deciding if its worth it to relocate the Qi to the left or just eliminate it.

    Oh look, another mod....
Eliminate it. It's worthless (in my opinion). I never use mine at all. Funny story: Even though I have never used my wireless charging pad (my type of phone doesn't support it), I still had to take my truck in for a wireless charging pad issue.

The pad started to bubble up. There is a TSB about it, and I was still in the warranty window to get it fixed. The dealership fixed it rather quickly and I was happy. But it broke even though I wasn't using it. I never even turn on the button!

Thanks for the tips. I still went my own way, but the wiring diagrams and advice were highly valuable.

Those buttons definitely look good up there.

if you extended via cut and solder or crimp then I approve. That’s what I’ll do if I do something similar but I’ve got all 6 filled up high.

Self-soldering heat shrink is a godsend. :cookiemonster: I took the three primary wires from each switch and extended using a six-core cable. Then I tapped into the illumination circuit up top to complete the connection. That left a couple of illumination wires down low for easy routing to the new switches.

Not bad, only trick was being careful to only put heat on the things I wanted heated while making my connections.

But in the end, I'm glad I relo'd those two and didn't do the lazy thing of putting the seat controls up high. Good suggestion.
