yes its been done heres someone who did it

i have these LED switchback lights i bought a few years ago for my old car. i couldn't quite sell or let them go, so i decided to try and install them on my truck.

as you can see these bulbs are 1157 and in order for me to install these bulbs on the taco i would have to convert the stock 3157 socket to an 1157 socket. so thats exactly what i did. found some 1157 pigtail sockets at my local pepboys and spliced into the stock harness. i had already done the dtrl mod so i just had to figure out which wire went where. oddly enough i found the new socket pops into the stock housing pretty snug. i have to figure something out to make sure it doesn't come off when off roading though.

now you ask why i went through all this trouble? this is why:

    48 SMT LED switchbacks: $30
    LED FLASHER FIX: $15
    (2) 1157 Sockets: $9
to have 6000k white running lights and amber turn signal from just one bulb: PRICELESS!!!

here's a vid of them at work:

I was looking at purchasing some next week... do you have to run the LED flasher fix, or should I try to do without it first?

Probably gonna have to use the flasher fix unless you love the hyper flash.

Gonna do these tonight since I have a set laying around.

Obviously any 12v source would work as long as its switched but where did you tap yours off of? Anything near the healight fixture that would be easy to tap into?

Another thing. Im not trying to use resistors becuase I really dont want to tap into my factory harness. My truck did come with dtrl from the factory so I know the relay is different but I dont really care if I loose the dtrl function because I leave my headlights on all the time anyways.

What relay (model number) do I use to fix the hyper flash?
Also will they still flash when I lock and unlock my truck?
Again I dont care if I loose the dtrl function but I would still like the lock/unlock flash.

Well I was anxious and installed them with the load resistors. But for some reason they flash amber-white-amber-white after I cycled the DTRL on then off. Going to disable the DTRL alltogether tomorrow and see what happens.

The LEDs are polar so try and switch them around in the socket. I installed them the same way you would do it on a 1st gen. Tapped power off the corners and put a resistor on both sockets.

    How is yours wired?

Ok so I pulled the pin for the green/red stripe wire out of the connector to permenently disable the DRL in my truck. I always keep my lights on anyways. Everything now appears to be working as it should.
