Just sold my 2008 Tacoma and picked up a 2014 DCLB. I had my radar detector wired up by running a cable from the headliner, down through the A pillar, across the back of the glove box and then wired into the cigarette lighter. This time I was wondering if there is any switched power I could splice off of in the headliner so I don't have to have such a long run for the power.

Yes there is. There is an un-used plug that went to the auto dimming mirror on the previous years models. Remove the roof console and you'll find the plug taped to the front above the mirror. I just tapped my Escort 9500ix into that plug while I was installing a auto dimming mirror with compass and temp.

The console comes out super easy. One screw in the aft sunglass holder, pull straight down on the front of the console (held in by 2 clips), slide the rear part forward and it's out.

Does anyone know which wires should be tapped into? I'm also putting the auto dimming mirror in this week.
