Tacoma is stock and staying that way, Pickup is TBA as of now.
Yep, the old myth of not being able to switch to synthetic on a high mileage engine has been debunked many times. If anything it's a huge upgrade for an old, varnished, dirty engine because synthetic will clean it up nicely and make it new on the inside again.

I switched my engine over at 140k to Mobile 1 full syn and she loves me a little more everyday for it.

Ive been seriously thinking about going to synthetic, my wifes rogue has about 40,000 on it and my taco has about 20,000. So im thinking now would probably be the better time to do it than waiting much longer.

I switched over to mobile 1 high mileage full synthetic at 242k and now it's leaking everywhere...kind of aggravating in the short term but I plan to do some seal/gasket replacing next weekend and it will be grand after that. Side note where are the cheapest internet deals on oem parts found?

Run a synthetic blend, that way you can't blame or priase anything on either oil...

    improved toyota goodness.
    5.4l maybe?
i bought a very neglected 01 f-150HD with the 5.4l v8 with 202k on the odo about 3 yrs ago off of a friend for $1000 who had bought it off of a guy who was selling it to pay for deisel fuel to drive his 1978 motor home-school bus to florida... long story short i went to change the oil and pulled the plug... waited for oil to drain... no oil.
Ok, thats odd... it has oil on the dipstick.
in the bottom of that trucks oil pan was enough sludge and crud that i ended up drilling it out with a cordless drill to get it to drain...
i put the oil i had on hand -mobil 1 synthetic- into it and slapped on a filter that i then changed 2x in 2000 miles and found full both times... no seeps yet and it doesn't burn much oil either at just over 1 qt to every change at 3-4k miles... but if i use the regular dino oil that they put in at firestone it burns about 1 qt to every 300 miles.
