switching to 4x4 problems

    Hey guys
    Im having a small issue switching to 4x4 with my 07 if the truck is running and i turn the switch nothing will happen, if the truck is turned off but with the key in the on position my 4H will actuate and continue working once i start the truck, if i turn the switch back the 2H while the truck is running it will dissengage but it wont re-engage unless i turn the truck back off, so far ive tried cleaning the connector to the actuator but made no diffrence, any ideas guys?

    ive tried in drive and neutral still nothing

    the selecter swich may not be working on your dash.

    I had this problem as well, and I fiddle fucked with the selector swicth until it worked.

    Use a ford wrench... Er, i mean hammer. Force fixes everything.

    Sorry, I can't offer any advice on this. Ghosts in the electrical systems of vehicles these days are gettin rediculous.

    Only for going into or out of L4 (Low Range) do you need to stop and put the auto tranny into N Neutral.

    H4 is shift on-the-fly, moving or stopped (it may not engage until you begin to roll, if stopped)...

    SOunds like you are having problems with your front actuator. This is a known problem that occurs when the truck has ever been through a few water crossings or gotten moisture built up over time. Try removing the actuator from the ADD front diff and taking out the screws. You can then pull the cover off the actuator and look inside. That should tell the story. SOmetimes there is water in there and that can make the actuator stop functioning. You can clean it out and make sure the connections in the solder are connected. If you hve checked this and still cant get it to work, you may have to change the actuator with a new one.

    so it wouldnt be the 4x4 actuator then?

    It most likely is, but sometimes you can clean it out and check the solder to make sure it is still connected before replacing it.
