You need to be prepared when Skynet takes over!

    Great idea for the maps!

That is a great point, I had not thought about.
    Kindle fits:

    Fire8 Tablet fits
    upload_2023-4-21_19-56-16.jpg

    They both fit together:
    upload_2023-4-21_19-57-29.jpg

    iPad mini would certainly fit.

I don't think it would work for an iPad

Looks like an XL sized one should fit a regular iPad. I wonder how well the friction fit between the panel would hold up to the added weight. Great use of that dead space BTW.

I got so many questions/concerns about the friction fit that I add some Gorilla Tape™ that can be applied from the inside so that you would never see it.
    upload_2023-4-21_20-48-23.jpg

But this print is at the limit of my printer's capabilities.

And mounting my iPad is on my project list. So I really would like to get that figured out. But I don't think this is the spot. My navigator keeps a large format map tucked between the seat and center console. Maybe that spot can be used?

you are definitely correct because Skynet one day we will take over what is everybody going to do when the world shuts down and the computers go away and the Internet shut down no one‘s gonna be able to find anything you’re gonna need maps I still have mine, I just don’t use them. They’re just underneath the seat.

I am planning on getting a Ham radio license as a backup for when we do have a major issues. Plus we are always in remote areas with no cell service In National Parks and when MTB riding.

looks like this would be the easiest piece to use to secure maps, and you wouldn't have to do a different design! I don't know why I forgot about these type of clips :anonymous:

Ah, necessity is the mother of all inventions! Well done OP!

PS: I too have a smoking hot trophy navigator / wife and she is good with the e-navigation stuff as well. But we always keep a trusty paper road atlas in the truck just in case! Nothing like breaking out the paper maps to assess the big picture.

If you don't mind me asking, what brand of PETG filament are you using to print these?

I've been using OVERTURE PETG filament. But I've found the cardboard spool abrades and contaminates the printing environment with paper dust. That has not caused any problems but adds the need to clean surfaces so I recently switched to NAGA filament (which uses a plastic spool instead of cardboard) and it has performed the same but without the paper dust. I've used a few other brands and have not experienced any differences in the quality of the material just the issues with the spool mentioned above.

Thank you, I've been debating if this piece will survive a Texas summer in my truck given that vehicle interiors can easily get above 135ºF on a typical later July/August day. I know most PETG begins to show signs of deformation around 140–145ºF but some of the budget brands have been known to show deformation below 130ºF. I think this gives me the confidence to give it a try and I'll be putting in an order later today. Do you prefer orders through TW or via Etsy (not sure about the cut Etsy takes)?

Etsy takes a bit more than PayPal (6.5% vs 3%) but it is really a matter of what is more convenient for you.
