So. Supposedly these are the shit. For various reasons.
However, I see people asking like $300 for them. That's a lot.
From what I understand, they are commonly used on construction equipment (high dirt/dust environment). Maybe military vehicles. Then again mil-spec means cheapest.
Trying to find one, I'm referred to a distributor that deals with construction equipment.
Maybe I need to simply use a tape measure to find the right size (4", 4.5", etc.), match it to their catalog, and simply ask the guy for price.

Because as far as I know, truck oriented online retailers are a business. To run a business, you have to mark up the price for a profit. Buy cheap, sell for more.
    Completely understandable.
However, respectfully, at this time I don't want to drop $300 on a plastic cup the size of a basketball.

Or maybe that's really just what they are. The company knows they're gonna sell (for construction equipment) and I'm sure it took R&D from engineers to make it. Might be unavoidable.

What is everyone doing/where is everyone getting these usually?
I kind of want to hit up that guy who outfits bulldozers and just ask. I'm sure it will be disappointing that I'm only looking to buy one as opposed to a company trying to buy a bunch of them to outfit bulldozers.

I know that even without it, a snorkel functions fine. Just maybe not as well or as good-looking.

no experience with Sy-Klone, but i did find my Enginaire pre cleaner from an arborist supply retailer for a decent price...
    https://store.northeasternarborist.com/search/pre+cleaner/

there was a bunch of precleaner and cfm talk in this thread if you wanna read through: https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/nycos-06-boosted-blue-betty.157700/page-224#post-9815853

I have nothing bad to say about sy-klone however there are other brands that are worth a consideration such as the topspin/donaldson and the enginaire, just two that I know of used by many here on TW

ordered Sy-Klone 9001 4" after measuring my inlet tube to be 4" across
Engineaire looks goofy like a mushroom

9001 for under 4.8L engine capacity, 9001R is for 4.8L+

not sure if I can sell my old inlet, or if it's trash

the clear ones look like some garden bug moth thing that clog with dirt from one trail and need manual cleaning

    Has anyone added anti-theft measures?
Would hate for a tweaker to run up and grab it.
Maybe I can somehow install a wire anchoring it to the snorkel tube. And a protective cap over the clamp screw so nobody can see it's a hex bolt.
But this is probably taking it too far. Most people are not gonna look at what seems like a black plastic upside down popcorn bowl and think to grab it.

All I could find direct from manufacturer was specs. I bet they sell to distributors in bulk at cheaper price who then resell for more.
    Only actually found 3 resellers.
I wonder if this is like those things on Shark Tank where people say it cost them $5 to produce each one
