I have a 2003 Tacoma 2.4L and I have decided to switch to synthetic oil. I know the manual says to use 5w-30 but the Toyota dealer in my area has always told me to use 10w-30 (I think because of the weather in southern California). If I change to synthetic oil, should I stick with 10w-30 as that's what my has always used for conventional oil or should I switch to 5w-30 as per manual?

Synthetic holds it's viscosity better at higher temperatures.

Expect slightly lower oil pressure at idle.
