    Hi all,

I was just wondering if it was too late for me to change to synthetic oil and if it is worthwhile? My 07 4.0 V6 has had oil changes done through the ECP plan since new and I imagine that the dealership uses regular dino oil for these changes. I may be mistaken but I think I have seen in a few posts about using synthetic for lubrication for pretty much the whole truck except the transfer case? Does it make any difference for performance, quieter, smoother drivetrain operation, reduced engine wear? Thanks

Never too early for synthetic. I put it a 94 geo with 100k and it now I'm at 150k and the thing runs like a champ.

I would say it's never too late for synthetic. I didn't start putting it into my wifes 4Runner till it had 155k miles. We bought the 4Runner with 64k miles and I used Pennzoil High Mileage till I made the switch to synthetic. It seems to be idling smoother now than before, plus I change it at 6000 miles instead of 3000. I am using Mobil1 Extended Performance 5W-30 with a Mobil1 Extended Performance filter. Total cost for me doing it myself is about $48 for the oil and filter. I buy the oil at Wal-Mart and the filter at Advanced Auto. Wal-mart is the cheapest that I found to buy Mobil1.
