What about the filter housing? Enjoying to take it off?
...perhaps you should reconsider fumoto after your incident..

I actually now have a spin on filter. I’m sticking with the Fumoto. I don’t need a single tool to change my oil. Easy Peasy. I don’t think anyone torques their filter housing. All your trying to do is seat the o-ring.

    And?
My response was in the context of the price of the first diy oil change vs the dealer.
So you spent like what $250 on the adapter??
What are the benefits? You almost lost the oil with Fumoto(per your confession) and most likely you oil filter is hanging low now( or you routed it under the hood?). What are you guys trying to invent? All these modes create an extra point of failure.

You could go to a 2K interval with extra virgin, possibly 3K if you send in samples regularly to your local Italian specialty grocer for taste test.

In a pinch, the engine would run on Veggie oil from the kitchen. Or Peanut oil. Or Canola. Or Corn..........

Any oil is better than no oil.

Oddly enough at a place I worked that made sulphuric acid, olive oil was recommended as a lubricant in the molten sulphur pumps because mineral oil would quickly deteriorate.

You can find a thread on the adapter. I’d tell you the benefits but your question isn’t sincere. You do you and I’ll do me. I can do that- apparently you can’t. No biggy. I’m here to learn and help, not to think I am better than anyone.

Self-bodged spare tire carrier. Running boards. Poor man’s winch.
Maintenance SVC 1 is every 5000 but oil change SVC 2 is every 10000. They recommend coming in for other maintenance in-between oil changes. Up here in Canada it’s every 8000km but oil change interval is 16000km.

Isn’t the first start after oil change the most damaging to engines? So reducing to a ridiculous interval
Like 100 mile will increase wear.

I think we could possibly identify several startups that would be worse than what you propose.

    1. An Engine start after the vehicle sitting for months. Components likely will have much of their residual oil drained off of them.
    2. An engine start with contaminated oil.
    3. An engine start at very cold temperatures.

    These are my guesses anyway.

If you score your cylinder walls, do you lose your soul? What if you score the thingies that cradle your cam shaft, does your soul suffer more? Should it? Really?

Do eulogies discuss one's oil change intervals? If they did, would this mortal coil be better off? Does the mortal coil benefit from "fake" synthetic oils or "real" synthetic oils (you bobistheoilguy freaks know of what I speak of)?

In the end, this illusion will end, and oil type and change intervals will amount to nothing but a chasing after the wind. Nothing is new under the sun.

May satisfaction be found in oil changes (whatever interval might occur) under this sun during the few days of life God has given us — for this is our lot.

Just had my last oil change tested. Oil was from the las dealer freebie. Refilled with Quakerstate ultra with a stock filter.
Oil was changed with 6,250 miles, they said I could have gone to 8,000.

Just make sure when using olive oil, not to use the one for frying, or cooking.....it hasn't the right viscosity.

Thats as bad as the $50 newly rebuilt engine a friend got suckered into buying. We tore it down, and it didn't look much better.

In all seriousness, and interestingly enough, olive oil can be used to cook in many high heat situations, including frying, you just can’t go too high. The argument against is a smoke point argument, and the smoke point of the ole extra virgin is high enough. It just isn’t ideal for sautéing a V6.
