I'm not sure if this is BS or not...
    50K and no oil changes?
I'm looking forward to seeing the video of your truck on 'Just Rolled In'... Or Scotty Kilmer.... Or 'The Car Care Nut'.... ;)

I change my oil every time I see an oil change thread on Tacoma World. Works out to like 750 times per year.

In reality, I do it at home every 5k since new. At 92k now and zero issues related to engine and oil. Just ac and coolant issues.

Do you have that leaky plastic pipe in the back of the engine?

With my 2015 Corolla its every 10k at Walmart, going on 232K so far. I usually bring to Taco elsewhere but still 10k intervals, at 60k on that one.

Damn! I am itching to make use of the Fumoto valve and the Motivx adapter! Even though it has only been 3500k since the last change!

I change mobile one out every 1,000 miles (about every 6 months.) Mostly short trips/towing the boat up to the lake, and occasional offroading. At that interval/type of driving the oil is dark black.

I did one at 5k for peace of mind, then 10k, 20k, 30k. I'm actually thinking of going back to every 5k since I found out that I fall into the severe category, most of my driving from November-April is below freezing, just under 5 miles through the city to work, and I auto start my truck a few minutes before I take off on really cold days. If I didn't meet the severe requirements I'd be sticking to 10k with no worries.

3,500,000 miles? That's probably enough, you have permission to change your oil now.

Funny ... the dipstick did come up rather sludge-y last time I looked ...

(Cue all of the attendant and completely required "dipstick" jokes)

Either follow the OE recommendation or do a smidge under what a Blackstone test recommends.

    Everything else is guesswork

I agree 5 k and I really don’t care if it’s too much . It’s always worked for me with synthetic, and to me I know it’s always clean. I used to be a mechanic and I’ve torn down may engines . I can tell you for the long haul it’s the way to go. If your planning on dumping it before 125k or 150 k then it doesn’t matter most of the time .Now there are engines that you can abuse beyond recognition like the 1.8 in the Corolla that will keep running with a quart of oil in it 5 years old

Well, on all my rigs we used to always do it every 3,000 miles, but now with these new cars with synthetic like My Ford Escape , and the Taco, they suggest 10k.
I have an interesting deal with the BMW dealership I bought my 3rd gen Taco from. As part of my deal buying it I get free oil changes and filters for the life of the vehicle which I freaking jumped on when they offered it! Now my hope is that they let me take her in every 5k , because I don't like to push the envelope on a $50,000 vehicle. I'm excited though about that deal.
I think on any vehicle, changing the oil should be based on what type of driving you're doing, and if your beating it up a lot. I feel if you take care of your rig, like more frequent oil changes, you could easily get a half million miles out of the engine itself. Just a thought...
