@paetersen Nope, not a BMW mechanic. I did own a 2007 Mini Cooper S, that I traded in on my 2003 Tacoma. It had around 40k miles on it, but I didn't trust it to last like a Tacoma. The timing chain assembly had to be replaced at 37k miles because of horrible engine clatter. Sounded like it was coming apart. I didn't like their oil change intervals. I stated in my previous post, that I thought they were on the extreme side. I'm very glad I got rid of it. Loved the car, really hauled ass, and drove like a go cart on steroids, but I'd read to many horror stories of blown engines with under 100k miles, and BMW was doing nothing to help the owners. Trade in value was a joke, but I have NO regrets trading for my Tacoma. Love my Toyota!!

@cruiserguy Thank you sir, I remember back in the 70's we all changed the oil filter every 3k miles, just like our Dad's taught us. My first car, 1974 honda civic, 4 speed, no air. 55 screaming horsepower under the hood. If people want to throw away their hard earned money being paranoid about oil changes, it's okay with me. I'll stick with my method of 7500-10000 miles. I just need to remember to change the filter at 5k miles. Good synthetic oil I trust. Oil filters clamming 10k miles between changes, I'm not 100% sure of. I know from reading Bob's the Oil Guy, that Purolator makes very good filters. I'm also looking at buying a half case OEM toyota filters from Ebay. Everything I've read about them says there really good filters.
