I have a 2005 2TR-FE, I bought new in 05. 221k on it, always following the stupid manual's suggestion for the idiotic 6.1qt. NO motor problems ever. I've been using 0W30 Mobil1 for most of the 221k, but now realizing the dealership only puts 5.5qt in when THEY do an oil change and I'm seeing that SOME 2TR-FEs get 5W20 or 0W20... so now I'm mad. Dealership just now told me they'd put 5.5q of 5W30 in it if I took it to them for an oil change (figured that's the best way to ask them what they suggested for oil visc. and volume). ANYONE with a 2005-2009 2.7L who is using 5W20 or 0W20?

I have a 2006 2.7L and nope I am not running 0w20 or 5w20. Our ambient temps run 30F winter - 115F summer and I use the 5w30 spec'd for my engine (synthetic).
Also, why are you mad? Your engine is spec'd for 5w30, and 5.5 quarts will place the oil level right between the marks, no problem.
    Also, epic thread revival.

I use exactly what the dealership suggested, 5.5 qts 5w-30 synthetic and OEM filter every 4-5,000 miles. Been doing it this way for 152,000 miles and 10 years (total ~170,xxx miles), no issues.
