Just did my first self change of oil as I have run out of free changes from dealer. They used dino oil. I used Quaker State full synthetic (that's what was on sale at Wally World), but would have used any name brand. I put on less than 10k miles/year so I used a NAPA gold filter and plan on once per year changes.

Engine is much quieter with the synthetic. No valve chatter or other engine noises.

Hopefully they didn't use actual dino oil for a normally scheduled oil change. I can't see a dealer using real dino oil over synthetic as it is not for regular driving w/ 5K oil changes.
Either way, QS is as good as any. I use Mobile 1 myself but in a Tacoma, it's all the same. NAPA Gold is a good choice too. I change every 5K myself, not sure if I would go an entire year without changing. That said, I only change the oil in my 74 corvette once a year too but that only gets about 2-3K per year.

If it's a V6, why wouldn't the dealer use dino oil? :notsure: Mine was running dino oil for the first 35k miles of it's life. There's really no need to run synthetic in the V6 if you keep up with 5k mile intervals under normal driving.
