Over oiling the filter destroyed your MAF. Had the same issues with my other Tacoma. Removing the MAF and cleaning it with carb cleaner fixed that issue. The excess oil gets sucked into the air intake and coats the MAF sensors. Use the K&N oil sparingly. It's not the same as your o;d dirt bike filter. The biggest benefit to a K&N is never having to buy another air filter.

My dealership is giving me the run around on my bumper to bumper trying to say nearly anything that could be wrong with my truck isn't going to be covered. This is before they have diagnosed the problem. The issue only comes up once every couple of weeks (hard starts and long cranks). They say they cannot diagnose it unless they can replicate the problem, so I should leave the truck with them up to a month long so they can mess with it every day to try to find a problem.

If it's my CPU it's about $250-300 to get "reset". With how much of a PITA it's going to be to deal with them, OMG I'll pay for it myself if it becomes a problem in another 3,000 miles when my warranty expires. They will not be able to replicate the issue with the truck just sitting in the shop for 20-30 days. If I left it there I'd also probably incur some body damage and have to fight them on that lol.

I also understand it's not just a dealer issue, it's a Toyota issue. In order for Toyota to foot the bill for the warranty work they probably have a strict checklist the dealer has to go through or they won't get reimbursed. I just expect this with big business and then it's really no shock.

I don't know why some people rave about Toyota cars over domestics. Big business is all the same.
Except Chrysler. They are a special kind of business.
