I do regular. Why? Because I have to do an oil change every 5000 miles to maintain the manufacturer's warranty. So synthetic is a waste of money if I have to change every 5k miles anyway.

Let's say something went wrong and Toyota sees that I did 10k oil change intervals with synthetic - WARRANTY VOID!

I would like to run synthetic, however I get free oil changes for the life of my truck with Toyota of Claremont. I know they use conventional. I change every 5,000 miles so I am happy with that. Saves me a lot of money!

In all fairness you dropped yourself into the middle of a fairly fast flowing and controversial thread and asked to have it locked about 15 times , or like 1/2 of your posts so far on the forum

Usually the loudest and rudest are the weakest and most insecure. Likely making up for some, uh, shortcoming. :)

Yeah my truck was run on several types of conventional and synthetic blends. Even high mileage oil.

When it was torn apart to do an overhaul on the head gasket, there was no visible wear. The plastic timing chain parts looked new! This was at 150k. When I tore my Mercedes apart, the cam was worn down. My truck's cam looked brand new. I think the lifters spin or rotate with the cam so the friction is a lot less.

I really like polyol ester engine oils. The 2.7 runs great on them, if they are free of carbon build-up.

How about Napa ($17.45-5qts.) vs. Mobil ($24.97-5qts.)? Is the difference negligible at best?

Only when the muffler bearing makes a "chugga, chugga, chugga, tick" sound. If it's only 2 "chuggas" & a "tick" you're golden.:rimshot:

Not to thread jack, but can you go from synthetic to conventional? I have done research and 1/2 say no and 1/2 say its fine cause all oil has detergents etc.

Thinking about changing from Mobil1 full synthetic to Mobil Clean 5000.

Yes, I used to even make my own synthetic "blend" when conventional was cheaper (2qts. conventional + 2qts. synthetic) for my Civic. 200,000 miles & no problems. I do not recommend mixing viscosities, though.:)

Gotta ignore the guys with bad attitudes that know everything about tacoma worlds features, we were all new once, when I use the search function I rarely find something useful to what I searched for. I posted yesterday about a legit modification idea and instead of offering suggestions I received criticism for everything else on my truck that had nothing to do with it. I use conventional now but I'll be switching to mobile 1 this next oil change, seems to run smoother and idle better.
