So I had to use my winch recently and unfortunately it had to drag through some bush a bit (no rocks). I unspooled the rope and there are 2 or 3 spots that look a bit frayed but the worst looks like this..

..is the rope still good for pulls as long as I clean it of dirt/mud after every use?

Looks like at lease one of the strands got nicked, the rope will no longer be able to pull to it's full limit anymore due to this but you don't need to go out and replace it right away. That being said if you don't already know how I'd learn how to splice the rope, so if it does snap you'll be able to splice it back together and still pull yourself out.

I wouldn't worry. My first and only rope I bought in 2005 and used it till this year when I sold the truck. The whole thing was frayed. Not once did I ever wash it. Only maintenance I ever did was unspool it to dry once in a while.
