After years of having my '06, I got T-Boned at a 4-way stop sign intersection. I was turning left at the right-of-way and kabloom, got hit mid-turn in the intersection. None of my airbags deployed but the passenger side doors are toast. I can only assume the other driver was rubber-necking when they hit me.
Funny enough the CHP was already on the scene due to a previous incident that occurred on this very intersection. I gave my side of the story, CHP did their report, and i was off. Pretty quick and easy.

Anyone experience a collision at a 4-way stop sign intersection?
Is this a slam dunk in my favor?

I was upset at first and then I was really appreciative once I saw the damage, i feel that the truck did it's job. I drove it the rest of the way home and it ran normal. I'll take a closer look at the frame over the weekend.

    RIP their Hyundai.

Grrrr. So sorry man. Hate when people don't pay attention and damage our stuff.

Accidents are never a good thing, but at least your truck is still driveable and you're OK. Thanks for sharing clear photos of both yours and the other vehicle.

I wonder if having heavy-duty rock sliders would have helped. Rock sliders are about 1/2"-ish below the bottom of the door, but in this case, against a lower vehicle like that SUV / "crossover", the rock slider outer bar might have been in a good position to be the first and major point of contact.

That's part of why I'm going to add rock sliders to my 2014 Access Cab.

4 way stop accidents can be tricky. If the other driver says they had the ROW, unless there's an independent witness, traffic camera footage, dash cam, etc. it's likely his insurance will side with him and it will end up being decided in arbitration. My $.02, go through your insurance and save yourself the headache.

Agreed. I don't have one yet but have researched them extensively.

The VIOFO brand, particularly the A129 Pro Duo, looks like the best high-quality option at a reasonable price. The new VAN TRUE N4 Pro has even better night-time video but it's ~40% more expensive. (It's actually "VANTRUE™" but I broke up the name to prevent TW Forums from auto-linking it.)

I had something similar happen many years ago in an old Nissan I had. I was driving on a road and turning left onto a side street that met the street I was on at a 45 degree angle so I had to really turn around the guy pulling out. I had pulled out of a convenience store parking lot close to the road the guy was turning from and I suspect he looked right and left, then when the car coming from the opposite direction went by he pulled out without looking left again, not expecting me to be there so quickly because when he looked I was not in the road and nothing was coming anytime soon. He clearly was at fault but stated that I had "cut the corner" and pulled across in front of him.( I did not) He worked for the city the accident happened in and played buddy buddy with the cop who came. He came up with as much crap as he could to make himself look less guilty and muddy the waters. He lied to his insurance company about what happened. I gave my side of the events to my insurance company and 2 years and 11 months later received a notice that my insurance company and his insurance company had agreed on a 50/50 fault determination. I was pissed as my insurance company had not communicated with me at all until the case had been settled. With a three year statute on accidents it was off my record in a month. I had not repaired the damage as the car was good mechanically but had been rolled over at a very, very slow rate of speed so every side of the car had some dents already. I would ask for a copy of the accident report and make sure you follow up with your insurance company to keep on top of what was reported and what was being done. Maybe go back to the intersection and look around for cameras, either traffic or maybe a business that was nearby that overlooks the intersection.

Glad your okay OP. That guy and lady can barely stop looking at their phones. You can tell that they look at their phones way too much. You can see it in their posture :duh:

I think it is pretty obvious that they didn't stop at the "4 way stop intersection" due to the air bag deployment and the amount of damage to both vehicles. It is also very obvious that you were well into the turn when you were hit.

Glad you're okay and wish you the best. Unfortunately the Insurance company will probably total the truck due to the damage on the cab structure and age.

I recently installed the Viofo you mentioned. Very happy with it so far. It replaced a Cobra that broke right after a year.

Not sure about this one but I wonder if sliders might be more apt to push the frame, like a bull bar in front might do?

This ^^^^^^. If the CHP cited the other guy then you are good, his insurance will pay. If not then he is going to say he was pulling out from the stop sign and you turned in front of him. Get a copy of the CHP accident report and see what it says. If no citation issued and the other guy doesn’t admit fault then the insurance companies will hash it out.
16 year old truck , they may just total it.

Or OP didn't stop and turned left in front of the other driver who had the right of way.

Now, I take OP at his word, but my reply is just to demonstrate how easily a credible counter argument can be made, and why my prior post referenced that liability at a 4 way stop can be tricky in the absence of independent confirmation of who did what. This is what my group at work does every day.

Thanks everyone, i am well. No soreness or aching so far. The report is not complete online on the CHP website but will give an update with all the deets!
Yes thank you, that's what I am expecting since the area has no cameras and no witnesses came forward except the CHP but, they did not admit or deny to have seen anything.

I had this exact idea because my '21 has sliders and I was kinda happy the '06 didn't because whether bolted-on or welded, the impacted sliders woulda bent the frame imo.
    IMG_5853.HEIC.jpg

Here is the impacted passenger side. ima take a good look at all the sides this weekend I'm really dreading just staring at the truck. :frusty:
