I was t-boned Sunday evening, two way stop, other motorist had the stop and did not. I love my truck and was very sad to see it damaged. (Both the other motorist and I are 100%.)

The other car hit my driver's side and because of my forward inertia, it hit and shifted my rear wheel and axle back, popping the drive shaft out at the spline.

I don't know what insurance will suggest for repair or total, my guess after seeing it in daylight is that they'll repair. I couldn't readily see if the rear axle was bent in anyway.

I know it'll never be as it was again, the engine was making some strange ticking sounds after the collision, as I was trying to turn it off. I worry they'll miss something with the repair.

Just wondering if anyone's had experience with this type of damage? Anything to look out for?

    Thank you in advance.

Glad you’re okay, these trucks seem to protect people quite well. I’m going to guess about 15 to 20 thousand for the repairs.

Yikes, you took a good hit there, glad everyone was alright. Good luck with insurance, hopefully they sort it out quickly for you.

There seems to be a fair bit of damage to the rear suspension and rear diff assembly. Fender, rear door, front door, rocker and box side, that is gonna be a tough one. I would say the truck might be written off.

yea I had a dodge ram take a similar hit but it was just all the doors and side/undercarriage.

I didnt have any of the driveshaft suspension damage and it was 11k in repairs.

What ripped out, the frame mounts for the leaf spring or the leaf spring from the shackle? I'd make sure they do a through frame check because if it's bent, it'll never be right.

Thanks all. My preference is that they total it, despite the added expense of finding a another. Waiting on insurance company to have it eyeballed.

I'm temporarily distracted by the rental I got, a Dodge Ram Bighorn pickup, it's hilariously huge and already out of gas. :)

I would be shocked if you didn't have frame damage. That along with a substantial amount of body work, my money is on it being totaled.

The mechanical repair alone may be upwards to a few grand plus new body panels, paint, labor. And it would surprise me if the frame wasn't bent and whether or not it's cheaper to total out or to pull it out.

Estimate came back at $10K, so they are going to repair. I attached the estimate.

Worried the only mechanicals being replaced are the left side suspension axle housing, left leaf spring, left shock absorber, and both rear leaf spring u-bolts. Surprised more didn't happen to the right side when the axle twisted. I guess I'll find out once it's in the body shop.

Anyway, just wanted to share in case anyone is curious. I'll post back with the results.
