If repairs are estimated that low compared to the value of the vehicle it'll be a hard sell to total it, depends on the insurance company. If you do end up keeping make sure to go after diminished value, and good luck!

Thanks all, I'll see about a diminished value claim. I heard today that the other motorist, who was at fault, did not have active insurance at the time. So I can't go after his insurance company for the diminished value, but I'll see about mine.

Dang, $10k seems low, and I think you're right to be worried about the mechanical components. The axle moved a foot or more, so there would be some impact to the suspension on the other side as well. At the very least, the u-bolts on the passenger side were bent and are toast, and the shock/spring/etc. could have bent on that side too. The e-brake cable was severed, the drive shaft separated... I don't see mention of any of those things on that list? I dunno man, seems a little off to me, but it's hard to tell from a few pictures.

Damn IL city drivers without insurance. Go figure.

I hope you have a good body shop to work with. Insurance cuts them so bad they have to cut corners. Sad.

Check to see if the other driver owns a home and has home owner insurance. Most of those policies has a personal liability section that covers
other personal injury and property damage. The accident does not need to happen on the persons property.

You definitely shouldn't put all of your trust in a field estimate. The body shop will come back to insurance with the rest of the repairs needed, and then you will have more of an idea of the actual cost. They'll have to cut off the outer rocker first and inspect the inner panels to make sure they are alright. Then like someone mentioned earlier, there was not a single word in the estimate about the driveshaft and other possible mechanical and/or frame damages. The shock mount/bucket had to have been damaged in some way from how extreme the axle angled back like that. Some states won't even allow frame repair either. I know in NC when there is damage to a frame rail in an area that cannot be sectioned, such as front horns/reinforcement mounts, the frame must be totally replaced. Give the body shop a little bit of time to look a little further into the damages and you'll get a better picture of whats going on.

You need to understand how your Toyota was manufactured and do you think that shop has people that are trained in dealing with the repair of UHSS components (at $52/hr shop rate - I'd say no)

From your estimate lines 17 & 19 are critical repairs. Expect this answer; "I've cut out and MIG welded in a thousand B pillars and never had a problem" If you swallow that line of bullshit, you're hosed. Show me where your technician has been trained on the repair of HSS and UHSS steel body/frame.

Line 76 looks like they are sourcing an aftermarket axle "Rockford Auto Parts" make sure you're getting the Off Road axle with locker.

Insist tha the truck frame is taken to a shop with frame measuring rack and that it is within specification. Again expect " I've seen enough wrecked vehicles to know when the frame is bent, your frame is fine" Yeah, sure you can

Yeah they wrote the axle assembly and spring pack as LKQ (used), and they wrote for an aftermarket fender and wheel opening molding. For the most part OE stuff other than those things. But like @desmodue said, has to be an axle assembly specifically for the OR. And everything involving HSS and UHSS is true too. Different welding procedures, different repair techniques and requirements. Definitely need to take it to a capable repair shop.

What shop did you allow them to take it to.... im not sure how your state works but in Georgia we can take it to any shop of our choosing to get an estimate. Also your dealership will have a shop in mind. My dealer sent me their card because they have a interest in buying back a decent vehicle

Have a post inspection done, to make sure it was repaired correctly following proper procedures. I’d recommend “collision safety consultants” they can also help with your DV.
