$10k for all that damage that cannot be true. Go have a 2nd appraisal done at a private appraiser.

That estimate seems low using common sense. I will tell you one thing from experience. Once your vehicle is in a collision, I don’t care how minor, it’s never the same.

Except there is no b-pillar on an access cab

This truck is an easy fix. It just looks bad because the locating pit sheared off the spring pack.

Telling them and getting them to actually do that are two different worlds. Unless the law requires it, you are subject to their policy and most insurance companies only go new OEM on vehicles 2 years or less in age. However, the body shop knows their way around this because they hate aftermarket parts because they usually don't fit properly so they can get around that. Not to mention that many dealers will match aftermarket prices with deals worked out between the body shops and dealers.

    Funny how that works

When it's your money Chinese crap = OK Fake grill, fog lights etc

When it's insurance money I DEMAND new OEM

Demanding will get you no where. Fix it yourself at that rate! Insurance companies only use OEM parts on vehicles less than 2YO and low mileage. At our shop we push for OEM on certain parts.. not all. You can expect to receive all the plastic items chineese, where as the door skin is OEM or LKQ.

You should be able to choose whatever shop you want to repair that. I would find one that is the most expensive with a good rep and take it to them for an estimate. I have seen lower tier shops or ones that are not so busy take on trucks like this because they want the work and as they go they drive the cost up and get away with it using cheap parts and poor quality work. Most of the collision chains you see now. Where a good independent shop with a good reputation who is busy would not want to repair it or put there name on it so they will total it out. I destroyed a two year old Dodge Ram 2500 when I was younger and because I was at fault they chose the repair ship and it took three months and cost about 18k by the time it was done. A good friend that owned a shop looked at it and said it should have been totaled and at his shop would have been. Worst case you might have to pay the tow bill to move it to another shop for appraisal. Worst case, take the hit and sell it but you will never love the truck again.

I’m surprised at that low a bid. I didn’t see anything about the drive line on the bid, or checking the frame. Also, I sue the guy that hit me if I were you.

I mean there is quite a bit of difference between "Hey I think I want to mod my truck and spend as reasonable an amount of money as possible!" and "Hey some asshole mashed my truck and I want it put back in the exact same condition it was prior to the aforementioned bullshittery!". Right?

Why do you have a deductible you are a claimant. Make sure they pay you for loss of value and a car or truck rental. Sorry for your loss but glad you didn’t get injured.

Well the guy didn't have insurance, seems like a solid reason.
Can't go after his insurance company, because he doesn't have one, so now you have to go after him.

Never been to Sparks but you never know where your travels will take you, but my point was the SOB that hit him was driving uninsured and that just raises the costs for the honest citizens.

Just get some topcoat F11, it'll get rid of the scratches, dents and cracks in the metal.
