Anyone have any issues with the eyelids while going through an automatic car wash? I bought a set to cover the top portion of my headlights that are faded but don’t want to lose them in the car wash. They will be attached with 3m tape.

Haven’t put them on yet due to this reason. If I’m going to lose them in the car wash then it’s a waste of time.

Not the T-Rex brand but I have had a set of eyelids on my headlights now for 8 years. I’m having a little trouble getting them off. I bought new headlights I want to put them on. Pretty sure they have 3m tape on them.

Try using touchless car washes or better adhesive tape.

I put them on last night using the 3m tape. They seem to be on really well. I don’t think they’ll come off in the auto car wash.

Going to try and take mine off later today. Need the sun on it for a little while.

Still have to figure out what I’m doing with the DTRL that melted the old ones.

williams63, where did you get that style of eyelid? I kind of like that a bit better!

I bought them from someone on TW. It was at least 10 years ago so I don’t remember who.

I had to remove my eyelids to repaint and there is no way in hell they will come off in the car wash. I had to heat the 3m tape to loosen it then pry the eyelid off.

So, I answered my own question. The 3m tape is enough to hold the eyelids on during a car wash!

Wondering if the eyelids I was sent may not have been put together with the best of materials. Twice now I’ve primed and painted only to have them crack in the sun/heat.

i believe that's really going to be a paint curing, thickness, or plasticizer issue.

Yeah, I pulled them off again and am currently stripping them back to the fiberglass. I also took some measurements and made a mold of them and will attempt to remake these using a better material or even 3d printing them.

    LS1 swap with nitros.
Why not just get some decent quality vinyl sticker material, cut them out, and stick them on?
