T-Rex Grills shipping finally got it right

I had to send the first T-Rex billet grill back last week that I bought through CARiD that had got bent during shipping due to lack of adequate packaging material, and which was dropped shipped from T-Rex.

So CARiD had the grill picked back up the following day by UPS. I had sent CARiD pictures of the damaged grill that because of the lack of side padding, the grill was able to slid from side to side in the shipping box to the point where one of the six mounting tabs actually poked a slot through the side of the box. The first grill had the top bar on the grill bent in at the upper right mounting tab, and it was bent so bad that there was no way that it could be straightened.

So UPS just delivered the replacement grill that was also dropped shipped directly from T-Rex, and seeing as how I know the UPS driver and that he already knew about the problems with the first grill being damaged, I said I wanted to open the box in his presence.

Well before I opened the box I checked the sides of the box and low and behold there was another slot cut through the side of the box from one of the mounting tabs just like what happened to the first shipping box, and I told the driver I bet this this grill is also going to be danaged.

So I pulled the grill out of the box with the UPS driver standing right there in front of me, and SOB the replacement grill was damage way worse then the first one, with the top grill bar bent so bad it looked like a roller coaster, and it was bent so bad this time that the bar was actually touching the next bar in 3 places and two of the mounting tabs were bent over at almost 90 degrees.

So he took pictures of the grill and the box with his smart phone and took it back with him.

So tomorrow morning I'm first going to call up CARiD and tell them that it happened again, and then as soon as T-Rex opens in Corona CA, I'm going to call them up and give them an ear full, as the damage to both of these grills could have been avoided with at the most a buck or two more of foam padding on each side of the grill running the full length of the box.

This is a real shame as the quality of the grill is very high, but T-Rex is blowing it by not going the extra mile on protecting a $340 grill so that it arrives undamaged and ready to install.

Those kind of things never make sense ... they try and save money by using minimal packing supplies when in the long run it would pay off for them to pack it in an extra $10 worth of bubble wrap and some foam peanuts instead of getting back $340 grills and having to eat that cost
... hope all works out for you and you can get the grill you want in undamaged condition

 

and people complain about the pro grilles having broken tabs

 

I just went out and looked at my black SR5 grill with the satin black painted Toyota emblem and was thinking to myself, damn it looks good.

 

I wish I would not have read this post ! Just ordered a T-Rex grill through RealTruck 2 days ago. They say it is being shipped via Fed Ex. Time will tell !

Well I contacted both CARiD and T-Rex today, and the customer service rep I spoke to at T-Rex did not know why the two grills I received within a little over a week were both severely damaged, and he said that they have only has 3 of the polished billet bar grill returned but it wasn’t because they got damaged in transit.

I told the service rep that I still wanted the grill, and that I was willing to give them one more chance to get a grill to me undamaged, and then I asked him what they were going to do differently on the 3rd grill to make sure that it did not get damaged during shipping, as I told him that my opinion was they are not using enough packing material to protect the grill in the shipping box.

So they are just awaiting a go ahead from CARiD and they will send the 3rd grill out to me. He said he has instructed the people who package the grills for shipping to place it in a bigger box with more protective material wrapped around the grill.

So it will be interesting to see if their 3rd attempt to deliver a grill undamaged to me will be successful.

 

I work for UPS as an inside Union employee and see this type of damage everyday. If I can't drop your package from atleast waist height without damaging it, then it is not properly packaged.

It definetly takes balls to throw someone else's fragile shit. Maybe I should rig up a few packages with cameras and send them through your hub, record your carelessness and send it to the corporate office. Then we'll see how big your balls are when you're begging to keep your job infront of your union boss
