Outside of the very small slots that were cut through the cardboard on each of the boxes by one of the mounting tabs, there was no visible damage to either of the two shipping boxes to indicate that they had been dropped on the ground. So given the fact that the grill weighs at at least 12 to 13 lbs. I have to lay the blame with T-Rex's lack of proper packaging material to keep the grill from moving side to side lengthwise in the shipping box, as when I opened up the box for the first grill I received the first thing that went through my mind as I was pulling it out of the box was, they didn't use any packaging material along the length of the grill, and it was quite obvious that the grill was able to easily move around in the box.

Well anytime now the 3rd billet grill from T-Rex will be delivered by UPS, and like the last one I'm going to open the box up in front of the UPS driver so that they can see if this grill is damaged also.

Well the third times was the charm as T-Rex finally managed to get a grill to me in perfect condition, and what amazed me is that they didn't package it any differently than the first two grills, even though they said they were going to put this one it in a bigger box with more packaging material.

So it gets mounted tomorrow with pictures to follow.

So it must be from some of the angry UPS workers careless tossing the packing into the truck and onto the conveyors?

To me that had to be the problem with the first two grills. The place I bought the grill from CARiD, and the manufacturer T-Rex who dropped shipped all 3 grills as well as UPS were all notified of the problems with the first two grills being damaged in transit. So my guess is that probably T-Rex worked directly with UPS to try and figure out why the first two grills got damaged, and that it was in UPS's best interests to correct the problem as according to the notes from CARiD on the first two grills that were damaged, T-Rex had filled claims with UPS for the damaged grills, which sort of leads me to believe that the cost of the damaged grills fell on UPS.

So I have a feeling that the UPS found out what was happening to the grills in transit and fixed the problem, and that's the reason the 3rd one arrived packaged the same as the first two but undamaged, as I think T-Rex didn't want to have to start shipping the grills in bigger boxes with more packing material as that would have increased the shipping costs. They might have also showed UPS that they were not having this problem of the grills getting damaged when shipped through different UPS lines and destinations, and that this was a test on their end to validate that their current packaging method was ok.

UPDATE ON MY T-REX BILLET GRILL......Item went on back order for about 10 days but RealTruck kept me updated on the shipping status. When I got the shipping notification I contact FedEx and requested a pick-up at the nearest FedEx office. I wanted to open the package in front of them to see if there was any damage. The shipping box was solid, NO DAMAGE. However , one corner of the grill and a slight bend on the upper most portion. I was able to align it at the FedEx office. I did notice that there was a large green " QC INSPECTED " stick on label attached to the outside of the plastic bubble wrap. This is telling me the bent metal happened at the T-Rex factory and not through shipping ! Installed grill with the black surround and looks 100% better than the stock Limited grill. Especially with that HUGE " FUGLY " T right in the middle.

What did you use for the black surround, and can you post up a picture of it from the front as well as the back.
