I agree on some cases, but not by what I see in OP picture. Yes, on some others but you need to clean door jambs, just as much as you do the outside of truck.

I’ve seen a couple others on FB that look exactly like mine. It’s my fault that my door sill is rusting in the same spot that has caused a TSB to be created, and my truck is less than a year old?

    Nah

That's not what I'm saying. What I said is yours appears to be on surface (metal shavings on surface) that rusted. Doesn't look like the others, that have rust problems.

To me that looks like rail dust, not what like the members other with rust blisters. I bet yours and his would come right off with a clay bar. I admit the other have a problem, with rust coming from under weather strip.

I hope you guys get it resolved.

I've only had this truck for a few weeks and the weather hasn't given me a chance for a good inspection but I did notice the spot welds starting to rust on the bed. Guess I have some more looking to do.
Anyone know if this is a super white issue?

Corrosion Perforation Warranty is for 60 months regardless of mileage...see page 14-15 of the warranty and maintenance guide as to what is not covered. As long as there is no body damage in the area of issue like a rock chip they should fix it.

They are complying by paint code and environmental/safety regulation like any car manufacturer. So, this is not a Toyota thing btw.

I did noticed a very small surface rust on the drivers side as well, however is not on the top like the majority I've seen here. Is more so on the very far side. I was thinking on taking care of it myself instead of involving the dealer. Hopefully this is the only spot i would need to deal with. Ill post pics when I have a chance.

if you look at the bulletin tho it specifically states covered by 3-36 warranty. talked with my local dealer service director. says I need to wait till their regional warranty admin comes to dealer and he can look at it and see if its covered. so im going to wait for this guy and well see.

Had my drivers door sill repaired last fall due to rust. Mine was pretty bad. Dealer took some pictures & said another Tacoma was being looked at as well as mine. They called rep to come look at both trucks & both repairs were okayed. So far so good after a season of salt/snow here in Wisco.

Quick question - Does anyone has taken the door seal "decal insert" off to see if there is any hiding rust under as well? Is the dealer removing these before fixing what is visible?

At this rate I'm worried about resale value and market perception. 3rd gens list of BS problems just keeps getting longer.

TRUST ME, this is very minimum issues compared to Chevy, Ford, GMC etc. Don't believe me? Go to their forums or worse yet, buy one for yourself, Lol.

amen to that. we have recall on 19 silverados for rear bumper rust. right off the truck.... the chrome is rusting bad around the rear bumper step.... replacing new bumpers right off the transport truck. not after 2-3 years of salt.
I do not think our trucks should rust on the door sill or anywhere. but it could be worse...

Removal is an actual step in the TSB repair guide.

How does that even happen there? That's not even a wet area as the main door seal contacts area to the left of that (see rubber seal along bottom of door).

The black plug up at the front of the sill.... hole drilled by dipship rustproofing company? If so, I'd hold them responsible for everything, since that cavity is accessible via rubber plugs on the outside of the rocker panel.
