It's assinine that Toyota doesn't make these updates mandatory. So many owners unaware of the TSB, etc....and have to suffer with crappy shifting on the highway.

I use Scan Gauge II. You can read and delete codes and set it up to read 4 different gauges at a time. I originally bought it because it reads the transmission temp at th pan and the converter. This is also necessary to properly check the transmission fluid.

Got the TSB done yesterday and after only about 30 miles I'm much happier than before (not that I was really unhappy, but ya know...). Truck drives like it has ECT partially engaged is how I feel. Not quite as aggressive and holds gear as long as ECT but wayyy better than before.

I did it as part of my 5k service and just described the symptoms per the TSB and they didn't give me any grief at all.

As does mine, only time it shifts to 4th is when I'm towing and going over an overpass with cruise control on

Tested again today on flat road, doing between 90-100 KM/h (50-60sih) and it will not shift to 6th with ECT on.

Mine will also go into 6th with ECT on. I don't drive in the 50-60MPH range at all. On freeway about 70MPH on the flat it goes into 6th. That would be about 75MPH because of the 34" I have.

    It'll shift to 6th around 72. Shift from 4th to 5th happens at 52mph.

These points are hard coded in ECT.

I drive a 4x2 and since the truck is new I've been gentle on the pedal and only get 18mpg. I can't wait to see what I get when I start hammering the pedal. My 2nd gen mpg and 3rd gen mpg and work truck ford ranger all v6 engines get about the same. 28-32 mpg I will never believe. 4 cylinder?

V6. I don't think I've ever gotten under 20, even in traffic or towing

Mine has crept back up to 19 mpg in city driving on the last full tank. Was down to 17'ish for a while. Not using ect or s mode much the past couple of weeks. Still shifts really well. This is strictly normal driving and it does tend to tach up higher than before rev 1 was done. Real happy with my transmission the past 3 full months since rev 1.

Yeah because you're not going fast enough. 6th isn't locked out but it's a power mode so the shift points are raised and it's not going to have you cruise around at 1k rpms in 6th with it engaged.

My dealer says that they don't have the TSB yet for my 17 OR, the vin matches the tsb but they can't do it unless it comes up in their system, anyone in San Diego with a '17 have it done yet?

Kings, 275/70/17, a few custom items, lots of Meso mods.
It shouldn't matter what year it is. The vin number should tell them that it has an old program. I have a 17 and had the rev-1 done. Not perfect but better. But I'm in oregon. The state shouldn't matter imo.
