It probably depends on your build date. I think Rev 1 came out in Dec or Jan? So if your truck was produced around that time or after it likely does have the latest. I have an early-build (Aug'16) '17 build that did NOT include the TSB and the Rev 1 did make a significant difference.

The build date is Feb 2017, built in Texas. I should have asked the dealer to pull the software version from the ECM.

This discussion about a new transmission reminds me of this time last year when the rumor came out that they were re-gearing to account for the shifting issues... I remember thinking that would be my luck.

I agree that they need to do something different. Given how the engine currently performs I would hate to see it mated to a 8 speed.

I know that BlueT was given a hard time about his ridicule of the engine in these trucks but I for one say he was right and the joke is on me... in this instance he was certainly smarter and wiser than me.

@bulldog, did you really run it out of gas? If so, no problem restarting?

I had similar experience with service advisors and the manager is great. Now I make it a point to say hello whenever I'm there. He knows my truck by sight and always asks how the service is going.

I traded my 2016 TRD Sport in 3 months ago and have not looked back! My 2017 4Runner SR5 takes little effort pulling my trailer and it has less towing capacity, the transmission in the Tacoma is the biggest piece of engineering crap Toyota has ever put in a vehicle, pure and simple, I am so happy I don't have to make payments on a vehicle I hate anymore, the 4R is so much better I wish I would have purchased a 4Runner instead of the Tacoma right off the bat, and yes I've lost plenty of money on the whole thing. I feel for you that continue to have issues, I just got tired of them, real tired.

AZinferno; I to feel the same way as you, I have a 2016 off road biggest P O S can't wait to unload it just weighting my options. Don't understand why people defend Toyota they put out a P O S some owners drive with ECT on all the time, some change gears in the diff, some buy shift sense product some buy tuner some accepts it for what it is a P O S

@barney7 I feel for you. Based on all your posts the past 7 months it is very obvious you have a crappy, if not a lemon, Tacoma. Just hate to see you torture yourself keeping it. Not healthy to carry that bitterness for that long. Why not trade it for a newer 2nd gen. We all know the 2nd gens are great proven trucks. Be better than taking a big loss trading up for a new vehicle. You just gotta get out of that truck. Either that or see if it can make it across the Potomac River. Then again, with your luck, it WOULD make it across the river.
I had a few months of disappointment but was fortunate that everything worked out ok. Still not a fan of the transmission but both updates have improved it. I have no problem using ECT when I feel a need for a better performing transmission until they provide a final repair/upgrade/replacement. I plan on letting the warranty run its course. I guess I am more optimistic because Toyota replaced the frame in my 1st and 2nd gen free after they were several years old.

Simple solution, sell it. Why torture yourself and hang onto it? Nobody is forcing you to drive it.

treimche; It could be very simple if Toyota would give me 90% of my money back I know no one forcing me to drive it. The shifting is one thing, mine is jerky it still has the flare and clunk when you stop some times. Toyota gave me a 8year / 125,000 warranty for being a loyal customer I don't even want that. I don't like to be taken advantage of, or other people . All I've done is just wanted it fixed right if anyone in the Richmond Va area wants to drive it and feel want I am talking about they are more then welcomed to drive it. side note case manager told me they would a lot me x amount of money for a different vehicle, for me to think about it when I called her back and told her I wanted to put it down on a 2018 she took the offer back and gave me the warranty,

That may not solve your problem if the hardware is the same specifications.

That is because you were dealing with a claims adjuster and not a "true" customer service person. They wanted to close the case. That is their job. I feel for you. Email a VP. That should through a little fire into the mix.

I agree with you, however, Their lack of a true fix makes me feel that they are not dedicating time to straighten this transmission out and that they may have moved on to a newer transmission.

Any ideas when a "rev2" will be released?

Does anyone know how rev 1 Band aides the 3-4 flair? Does it burp an air bubble in the circuit before needing that circuit?
