    I can't believe the people asking "When can I order a 2018?"

I believe I'd wait till Toyota does something major to the Tacoma.

If they do something major and it solves the problem or there is a big class action - I'd like to be a part of that because I do love the truck other than the tranny issues (albeit a major aspect of a truck lol). Off road it's a beast and so much fun. On the pavement it's a POS some days

Where I am from, you sign a paper at purchase that disallows you to be involved in a class action lawsuit against Toyota. Imagine my surprise.

I think Toyota should just release an optional re-tune for the trucks to safely get max HP and torque in the lower RPM range where most of us want it, which would require the use of 91 octane fuel, and adjust the shift points of the trans. Much like OVTune is doing right now (not to take away business from him) but this would save Toyota from any class action lawsuits and would make a majority of us happy.

Is Toyota going to do these things on the 2018 Tacoma?

I just traded mine. They gave me 31k. It had 32k miles on it.

    Got this
    [IMG]

    Problem solved.

Toyota isn't going to fix this. I'm convinced the trans can't be fixed or they would've done so.

My money is on a new transmission in 2018. Perhaps an 8 speed with better logic and shifting.....borrowed from another platform.

    Good luck gents.

Just put the ShiftSense Pro in mine and it's like a 4Runner now. I'm pumped!

I have a 2017 that is approx. 9 months old with approx. 5000 miles. It has the TSB applied for shift flaring. Previously it would flare every morning on my way out of the neighborhood. This stopped after the TSB was applied. It has since come back but not every single morning and does not seem to flare (ramp up rpm's) as bad. I took the truck in for the 5000 service and asked that the fluid levels be manually checked. I left the truck over night and was told the next day it did not need additional fluid.

I was told their technicians opened a case themselves and was provided the number via service manager. Said they spoke with like their Technical person for their area (had a name but don't recall) and he stated there is nothing else that can be done and that it is within normal operations.

I have since logged a ticket with Toyota myself. Not sure what to expect if anything but as with many, frustrated but hopeful.

Feel free to provide any feedback.

    Thx
